and twisting my words of saying a pretty good fan base, doesnt change the fact that the movie was a box office hit.
and Its 39 million dollar box office was one of the top 15 grossing movies of 1981.
It made more money than any other animated classic released from the late 70s till Oliver and Co came out.

And disney's Chief Historian has stated that Disney still has a lot of love for the film.

And this movie for the record is officially part of the classics line as well.

Yes Amity, I know where to find the box office numbers, I was talking about the merchandise specifically in the 1st part of my post though.

Yep, that was a great era for animated classics ;) Personally there was only one animated film I loved better from that era than FATH and that was The Secret of Nimh. And the only reason it did not do well is because it did not have the name Disney attatched. Animated movies had lost their draw for awhile there in the 70's-80's. It was the top grossing animated film during a bad era. And that proves what exactly?

"And disney's Chief Historian has stated that Disney still has a lot of love for the film."

What would you expect a corporate person to say? The film is alright, but we don't really love it but please buy the film anyways :)

whatever i am done going on about this with you, if you really dont want accept the fact that the movie was a box office hit, then fine. doesnt change the fact that it was one. and that has nothing to do with toy line which frankly didnt become they type of draw for disney films that you are talking about till Toy story came along in the 1990s, it wasnt till then that you started seeing the princess line, toy story and cars etc and what not. so why you even are bringing up toy sales when they really didnt even promote disney film related toys (aside from stuffed animals and happy meal toys) to back up what your saying doesnt even make sense.

we just arent going to agree. moving along.

^^No one has said it wasn't a box office hit which is where you're getting off track. We're all saying that the movie isn't one of Disney's "Premier" titles. It's not Bambi, it's not BatB, it's not The Lion King. It just won't have the numbers that those other titles have which is why Disney is adding part two to the package as an added value so more consumers will be tempted to pick up the title.

Those were DVD releases though, Pretty sure there was no mention of a blu-ray release for it. Fox and the Hound 1 and 2 however will be released together on blu-ray

Oh oops, totally did not see that, interesting that they didn't just use the blu-ray art for the ad though

I know you wrote this long ago, but didn't notice until I saw the bigger picture of the insert now.

My guess would be 2 movies in 1 blu-ray and 2 DVDs for each movie. The extras were really slim on the DVD releases, and I'm guessing since the insert only say "all new bonus feature" - (singular), I don't think it's going to be too extensive of an extra. So I'm guessing there will be enough space to put both film in with the limited extras.

I really wish the front cover & spine would just show the original and have the sequel to be mentioned just as an extra feature on the back. But that's probably not going to happen :(

It'll probably end up being a similar cover to what the Bambi I/II release was like in the UK with a wavy line in the middle of the cover.

I'm personally really pumped for that Fox and the Hound set.

"The Fox and the Hound" is a great movie. It has a really story to it, very emotional.

The story is like two boys that grew up together, one is the son of the Plantation owner and the other is the son of a slave. Both just see each other as "friends", then when they grow up, society tells them how they should be. Sometimes society is wrong, and the movie really shows this and breaks your heart in the mean time.

I welcome Beauty & the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas. I was looking for the DVD this past Christmas only to see that it was out of print, so I'm happy to pick that one up. I probably haven't seen it since it came out on VHS!

I never saw Beauty and the Best Christmas - but my girlfriend loves B&tB so, I'm sure we'll get it.

So, has Disney switched over to the viva cases for good? A welcome change imo, I have more spares to replace the eco cases.

I dunno if it's been mentioned but....I just got an email from Disney Movie Rewards. In this email it mentioned this:

on April 24, 2011...Pinocchio, Snow White, and Fantasia/Fantasia 2000 will go back into that damn vault of theirs.

Coincidentally Amazon has a sale on Disney BD combo packs and here's the link

Order Three Disney Combo Packs and Save

Save $20 when you order three eligible Disney Combo Pack titles below. This offer is valid through April 23, 2011. Applies only to products sold by Amazon.com. Does not apply to products sold by third-party merchants and other sellers through the Amazon.com site. Additional restrictions apply
So it's $59.97 for Fantasia/Fantasia 2000, Snow White, and Pinocchio...not a bad deal considering that those damn flicks are always at least $23.99 on a good day.

I wish I actually needed/wanted any of those other titles listed, the only one I want is Fantasia/Fantasia 2000. Oh well, I'll figure it out.

I was wondering when they'd announce this.

Got 'em all already though.

Thanks for the link. I need to get Fantasia and Bambi. I'm sure I can figure something else to toss into the cart. :)

According to a poster on Ultimate Disney, Robin Hood and Mulan are going into the vault this June to make way for a DVD/Blu combo next year

Good. Mulan is one of the few classic Disney titles I actually like.
