re: Star Wars
Sweet, just got shipping e-mail from Blockbuster that Episode 4 is on it's way. Now just have to figure out which other one I want to pick up with in store exchnage this morning. Perhaps my fave of the PT, ROTS and get that out of the way, to see if they fixed the anemic LFE in the opening space battle. I am hearing confllicting reports on this around the web. Some say yes, others say no.

Which version of Phantom Menace is in this set? The theatrical, the DVD version, something with new changes? I know they changed Yoda, but any editorial changes?

FWIW my Target had them in the clear display boxes and not the spider-wire

re: Star Wars
Well, I can update with my own story.
They had a kiosk in the front of the store for the Star Wars Blu-ray sets, basically on the end of the check-out stations where they normally have bargain DVDs and other bargain deals.
It was quite funny, only of my Target's kiosk had spider wire on them. I believe this was from the movie section, as I browsed over there quickly and saw a bunch of spider-wrapped sets. But my Target had at least 20 copies of the Complete Series WITHOUT the spider wire. Despite this, there were only about 5 or so of the Lithograph sets after I picked mine up.
If the lithograph set is a deal-breaker for anyone, note that the 8 lithographs are larger versions of the artwork on the inside cover of each disc-holder! No unique lithographs at all.
Very satisfied, but I don't know how long it'll be before they put the spider wire on all of these sets, I wouldn't imagine it'd be too long. Probably as soon as the kiosk goes down, the spider wires go up. I checked to see the condition of the one that did have spider wire, and low-and-behold it dented the box.
If you want a mint copy and you want the lithograph, it's best to go ASAP.

re: Star Wars
With my experience, their CS is about as helpful as a used toilet paper roll over the telephone.
My, The Phantom Menace sure hasn't aged well with a lot of it's CGI shots. Jar Jar looks pretty bad, the sea creatures look pretty bad, Nass doesn't look good, and the DNR done looks really soft.
The OT looks amazing though. Have yet to check out 2/3.

Can someone post a photo of this "spider-wire" stuff on a DVD or Blu-ray? I think I know what people mean but I'm having difficulty picturing it.

I thought so. Wow. Good way to ruin the outside of the package. And since, compared to the interior art, the outside part is the only part that looks decent...

re: Star Wars
There should be a poll added to this thread about who is caving in and buying it after they said they wouldn't.
I'm not touching this set unless I can find it used at some point and that's just for the bonus discs alone, not the six films in it I have no intention of watching.

I actually picked a copy of the bastardized OT today to look at it. Then I put it back and bought Citizen Kane. Thankfully Orson Welles is still dead so he can't add CGI to it.

I agree. The thing is, they don't need to cinch them as tightly as they can, which destroys the packaging -- they could leave them loose so they don't damage the packaging because a thief still couldn't pull them off.

having worked retail, i can tell you that even if those things are on super tight, you can sometimes still wiggle them out. I think it really blows that they put them on DVDs, but putting them on a bit looser would defeat the purpose.
