Just got my steelbook, so awesome to have the original soundtrack finally. The film itself is nice and grainy, just as it should be. Will dive into it this weekend.

Region A PS3's and some other players can play these easily. Once the 'wrong region' screen pops up, just press your menu button and it plays fine!

By menu button he means the triangle button. I was furiously pressing the guide button with no results! Lol. Works great! So happy now!

also, English 3 is the audio you want! Also, the More Brains! documentary works fine, but the rest of the extras kick you back to the menu. I'm playing on a PS3 running to my projector.

I'm just happy the movie works!

I've never heard of a North American PS3 being able to play Blu-rays that are locked for a specific region.

Yes. At least this BD works. When "wrong region" shows up on the screen, press the "triangle" button. Which is the menu button. It will take you to the menu screen with no problem.

The only downside is that it seems all the behind the scenes stuff, save the documentary, are SD PAL, so it kicks you back to the menu. I don't care, though, the original soundtrack and the doc are plenty for me.

The UK disc of "The Artist" has the same thing. Just press the menu button when the 'wrong region' screen appears and it bypasses it.

New "collectors edition" blu of this is coming in July from Shout.

For $35 from Shout, I'm assuming yes on both.
At the very least, I hope they keep the original music.

The $35 is the Deluxe Edition, which already sold out.

Only difference between that version and the Standard Version is the addition of 2 different Slipcovers and 2 different Posters.

Standard Version has all of the same material. New 2K scan, a few more extras including the Workprint (in SD).

I believe if you pre-order from them, you get the release 2 weeks early.

I hate that price point. I'm currently watching the fantastic 2 hour documentary included on the most recent release. Man, the shit talking is hilarious and I'm not sure if I should feel bad about William Munns getting canned. Granted, some of the worst effects featured in the film were his.

I'm gonna go for the Second Sight release since Shout couldn't clear the last song. Who gives a toss. I bet their encoding will be naff too.
