Re: Space: 1999 - Season 1 coming in November
I have the box set and I started watching it earlier this year. My interest petered out when I hit the 2nd season. The second season just isn't as good as the first season. I'd buy the first season on Blu, but keep the box set for the 2nd season.

Are they remastered in any way? Even on the DVD's you can see the wires hoisting the Eagles into space as they blast off.

Apparently the UK release has additional extras over the US release that couldnt be included for licensing reasons. Just a heads-up for those that are interested.

Blu-ray.com review
This is down to $49.99 (50% off) on Amazon.

very tempting. I was hoping to see this hit $35, which is what I picked The Prisoner up for last year, but 50% off might be enough to sway me.

Looks like the second and final season is no longer in the works. This was posted in Blu-ray.com's Season 1 thread--
This got posted on the Online Alpha Yahoo group, that A&E canceled Year 2 on blu-ray:
http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/showthread.php?p=4100729
I did a little looking and home theatre forum had some chatter, too.

I'm not sure how much is rumor, but the scuttlebutt is that Network never planned to release Year 2 on blu-ray and that A&E was going it alone on the remastering in HD.
In short, an A&E rep said that Year 1 didn't sell well enough (a surprise to me!) to warrant the investment in Year 2.

Finally today, a number of you have e-mailed us to ask about rumors that have been circulating around the Net since last week to the effect that New Video and A&E Home Video have stopped work on the Blu-ray release of Space: 1999 - Season Two. I can report to you all today that BOTH A&E and New Video have told us that there's no truth to this. We're waiting for additional details from them, but in the meantime know that the rumors are inaccurate. Space: 1999 - Season Two is apparently still in production for Blu-ray. More soon.

Michael's Movie Mayhem doesn't list it as discountinued, but Season 1 may be OOP, as the Amazon listing starts at $60.
