"Stardust"

Amazon finally has it up for pre-order with no release date. But Amazon.co.uk has it for £8.45 and with shipping, the U.S. conversion was only $17.67. Screw you Paramount, not waiting any longer. It's all mine and on it's way! :)

The UK Blu ray is excellent quality. US release is probably just a port.

Probably my most wanted Blu. Do I pay the $18 now or wait and see if the U.S. version is and upgrade?

As nitin said, it will most likely be the exact same transfer. If you don't want to wait then you might as well import. I believe all of the extras are playable on region A players as well. It's really a great disc.

This was supposed to come out here in the U.S. in December 2008. I've waited long enough.

December of 2007 if Paramount didn't go red ;)

I've got the red so I'll stick with that. Great fun of a movie though.

Holy shit. Did I get my year wrong? It was supposed to be released a year earlier than I thought !?

Regardless. I love this film. And I would have paid twice what I did.

Is this any different than the HD DVD?

Just a DTS MA track over a DD+ one. Everything else (including the encode) is the same.

I'll stick with my HD DVD Copy as well. Movie was alright, not sure why so many people get boners for him.

Probably cuz it's Neil Gaiman.

I've yet to see it but I've always wanted to.

fumanstan 06-15-10 09:59 PM

Re: "Stardust"

I didn't even know who Neil Gaiman was (weird since i'm in to nerdy stuff), I just thought the movie was a lot of fun.

Gizmo 06-15-10 10:04 PM

Re: "Stardust"

It's this guy:
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0301274/
but why the boner? Cause he wrote an episode of Babylon 5?

fumanstan 06-15-10 10:53 PM

Re: "Stardust"

He's more involved in novels and comic books then movies.

Neil Gaiman is my favorite living writer, but not for his film and TV work.

I thought the movie was atrocious, personally. All of De Niro's scenes made me cringe with embarrassment... for his career, for the fact that the filmmakers thought that character was a good idea, and for the fact that some people actually claim to think it's hilarious.

IMO, he was the only good part of the movie.

It's the best thing he's done since Analyze This, as far as I'm concerned.

I'm happy with my HD DVD but I've been wanting to snag a BD as a gift for a friend. I've been mulling over whether to import the UK BD or wait for a deal on the coming US release. For now I think I'll wait and see what deals turn up.

Not saying much, is it?

I really hope this comes out soon. I loved it in the theater, but haven't seen it since and I'd much rather see it in HD than SD. If there aren't any firm US release dates soon, I may be buying my first import blu-ray.

Sept.7 announced for the US.

Sweet. There aren't many catalog titles I'd buy on Blu-Ray, but this is a must own for me. I never did get it on DVD so I can't wait!
