The new extras are extremely substantive - two hours of interviews, all in HD! The caps look excellent as well. A benchmark release to be sure.

I went into my local Best Buy today hoping to find "Ladies and Gentlemen, The Rolling Stones" BR, which I couldn't find in the music section so I walked over to the BRs hoping it was just put in the wrong place. While they didn't have it I was browsing through the rest of the BRs and was shocked to see both versions of this out. The price on the 2 disc is $24.99 and the 3 disc is going for $51.99. I snagged the 2 disc. Definitely made my day. Probably a YMMV situation, but if you can't wait until next Tuesday it is definitely worth looking.

I'm a little put off by the fact that the 3-discer is in a DVD-sized case.

Aesthetic concerns aside, it seems like a bad move considering how many stores tend to mix their DVDs and Blu-rays together (Wal-Mart) or have Blu-ray shelving specifically designed for the shorter cases. Someone could easily buy this not realizing it isn't a standard DVD. (Though it could push them to upgrade to a Blu-ray once they got it home and discovered it won't play on their DVD player.)

I'm sure there are several other Blu-ray releases that are the same size as this. I'll just put it on the shelf along side them. It's annoying, but whatever.

Mine will be going on the shelf with my DVDs. I have shelf height set to maximize storage capacity. This was a dumb decision.

So now I know what it feels like when people bitch about SEs being big or Digipacks or some other BS they bring up...fucking hell. My shelf is specifcially sized for things not so much bigger than a BD. Just a tad shorter than a DVD case.

I watched the movie last night (DVD) and was reminded how great the film really is. Can't wait to watch it on Blu-ray. I ordered the two-disc set. Didn't really need Hearts of Darkness in HD.

I actually think Hearts of Darkness is a more interesting movie than Apocalypse Now. After watching it, I understood much better why Apocalypse Now never did quite seeme to me to be a unified whole rather than a series of some really great scenes snipped together.
Will wait awhile and see if I can snag that documentary later in its blu version.

Not thrilled about the DVD-sized 3-disc case either, but I have a simple solution: wait until someone creates a custom BD-sized cover for it, then just print that out and use it in a standard 3-disc Elite case....that is what I will be doing, as I would be willing to bet there are already a few people who are working on ones right now....

I bought this DVD steelbook a few months ago but it is not dvd sized. It is maybe a fraction long than a blu-ray steel. Plus I like the cover.
I am definitely using it to store my discs.

Would Hearts of Darkness look any better in HD? I just watched this again last week and I didn't think the PQ on the DVD was too hot. I recall when this came out, I compared the DVD to a bootleg of Hearts of Darkness I had and thought the PQ of the DVD was slightly better than that of the bootleg.
