By all accounts, Kill Zone has excellent A/V quality and no dubtitles.

Is there a list somewhere of which DD Blu-ray's aren't messed up and safe to buy?

Kill Zone, Tai Chi Master, Legend of the Black Scorpion, Invisible Target are definitely safe to buy. The one to avoid is Legend of Fong Sai Yuk which is cut and dubtitled. (the dvd had actual subtitles.)

Honestly, only 36th Chamber and The Killer are the "sub-par" releases from them, and they're not even that bad. From the Protector on, though, each release has been awesome, except for the dubtitles on Legend of Fong Sai Yuk.

A couple of the newer films (Ex. "The Rebel") are alright and free from what plagues a lot of their releases, or catalog releases.

I might have to pick up the BD's of Invisible Target and Kill Zone/SPL tomorrow.

Saw The Killer and maybe Hard Boiled I think, maybe it was just The Killer, but it was only 15 new at FYE

It'll take me a while to get a full-fledged review up (clearly, I adore this flick), but I did want to give you guys a quick update on Legend of the Black Scorpion. First, here's a picture for a little confirmation:

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/o.../legendblu.jpg

Price: $14.99 @ Best Buy this week, $19.99 regular.

Runtime: 2:10:50; 1080/24p; DTS HD Master Audio track, with NO dubtitles. Spot-checked the disc and it's extremely good -- topples over 30mbps frequently. Could've been a bit sharper and had a cleaner print, but it's a very healthy step-up over the DVD.

As far as special features go, it doesn't contain everything from the two-disc DVD -- as it's missing the 15-minute "Making Of" piece -- but it comes with everything else. That includes the Bey Logan commentary and the 40-minute assembly piece, along with two trailers and interviews. None of this, by the way, is in HD.

<B><I>VERY</b></i> safe to buy, based on my quick look-see, and undoubtedly a bargain at $15-20.:up:

BTW, Killzone on BD is also $14.99 this week. I will probably let Legend of Black Scorpion go since I already own the dvd, but Killzone might be too good to pass up.

I would be interested to know how this Dragon Dynasty release of Killzone measures up to the HK disc (SPL). I have the latter still unopened ...

I have to make a return at BB this week, I may crumble and buy a couple of these, we'll see.

I already put Killzone on store pickup, so I guess I crumbled. :D Maybe if I get sometime in the next couple of weeks, I'll put up a review (on the site I write for) or at least post some thoughts here.

The HK disc is a BD-25 with close to no features at a cost of $30. DDs is a BD-50 and ports over most of the extras (UK disc ports all extras) from the DVD and costs $15. Easy choice for me.

Re: More Dragon Dynasty on the Way

Picked up Invisible Target and Kill Zone (SPL) today at one of my local BB's.

Comparing the BD Extras to the DD releases of these films, looks like the following Extras are missing.

Invisible Target: Missing the Gala Premiere Feature, Trailer Gallery and Interviews with Benny Chan, Philip Ng and Vincent Sze

Kill Zone (SPL): Missing 3 Featurettes (2 Anatomy Of A Scene & 1 Making-Of Featurette), 4 TV Spots and 2 Trailers.

Why DD decided not to port over the extras from their DVD release is ridiculously confusing.

Re: More Dragon Dynasty on the Way

I picked up Legend of the Black Scorpion and Kill Zone. I was considering keeping the SPL DVD, but I really doubt I'll watch those features again. I'm trying to keep the double dipping to a minimum

Same here man. I feel really guilty picking these up since I have most of them on DVD already but for the price, I cant help myself. Shame on me.

is 'Invisible Target' a good blind buy? broke down and bought 'Kill Zone' and 'Black Scorpion' today.

I may be confusing Invisible Target with another Chan Jr. movie - it had good action, but it was utterly forgettable.

It had one decent scene, a little bit of fun action, but the movie makes you want to fast forward through it just to have it end.

Re: More Dragon Dynasty on the Way

Invisible Target is one of those movies Harvey Weinstein could've cut to pieces and it may have actually benifited. I give it a D+.

I enjoyed the film, but a couple of the other posters are right, it would have benefited from a couple snips.

Re: More Dragon Dynasty on the Way

A question to those who have Legend of Fong Sai Yuk on blu-ray.
From what I have seen on the internet this release should have two subtitle streams.

Disc Title: The Legend of Fong Sai Yuk
Disc Size: 20,634,866,494 bytes
Protection: AACS
BD-Java: Yes
Playlist: 00004.MPLS
Size: 18,377,877,504 bytes
Length: 1:35:36
Total Bitrate: 25.63 Mbps
Video: MPEG-4 AVC Video / 22964 kbps / 1080p / 23.976 fps / 16:9 / High Profile 4.1
Audio: Chinese / Dolby Digital Audio / 2.0 / 48 kHz / 448 kbps / DN -8dB
Audio: English / Dolby Digital Audio / 5.1 / 48 kHz / 640 kbps / DN -9dB
Audio: English / Dolby Digital Audio / 2.0 / 48 kHz / 192 kbps / DN -4dB
Subtitle: English / 42.650 kbps
Subtitle: English / 46.953 kbps
Subtitle: Spanish / 36.133 kbps

Are you saying both of these are dubtitles?

One of the subtitle streams is probably closed captions.
