I'd love to get a great BD of Predator. It's like in my top 10 of action films. Maybe top 5.

What it needs is an Arnold Commentary. The man is entertaining to hear. Loved his Total Recall one w/ Paul V.

So you won't be picking up the re-releases of LotR and Avatar?

No and No. I don't play this game with studios anymore. They get one chance to sell me a title. If it's good, I'll buy it. If I find it lacking, I either won't buy, or will wait till its dirt cheap (and used - so they don't register a sale).

I'll debate picking this one up if there's a better transfer but, I'm not sure Predator can really look THAT much better anyway.

I agree with Gizmo. Fox has an amazing catalogue consisting of some great classic films, however, Fox seems to have a "Playstation" mentality when choosing what films to release.

It makes perfect sense to re release Predator on bluray in June, less than a month before the new sequal comes out. When you look at the fact that the last Preadator film (not counting the AVP franchise) came out 2 decades ago.

Glad I held off on the current Blu-Ray (and the 2-Disc SE, for that matter).

I'll see what this disc offers and compare it to the current one I have. Already have lossless audio and a decent enough high def picture on the current one that I picked up for under $10. There are other discs on my to buy list that are higher than re-buying this one.

Than maybe they should have canned the shitty release instead of releasing it a few years ago for a quick cash grab (Warner did with Nightmare on Elm Street). But they didn't, and now they are double-dipping. So screw them. (and I understand why they are re-releasing it, but they could have simply tossed in some free ticket like other studios do to promote Theatrical releases with potential tie-ins. Do it right the first time).

I'm not suprised. After all, we are talking Fox here, the KING of double-dipping and beyond. I'll read the reviews first before commiting to buying this.

totally agreed with Gizmo. He just pick a fight with the wrong movie though (perhaps one of DVDtalk's most beloved). I don't plan on double dipping on this either.

I gotta agree w/ ya. It's pretty damn popular here..that and John Carpenter's The Thing.

The Thing will get rereleased when Universal brings out the prequel next year. Maybe it'll have everything the 3 year old HD DVD had this time...and no DNR.

Funny, the top three threads right now are all re-releases.

Excellent!

Absolutely no regrets though buying the current BD on release date, I've more than gotten my money's worth out of it.

Paid less than 10 bucks for the first release. If it is a new transfer then I'll bite, otherwise it's a wait for me.
