Time Bandits, Long Good Friday, Mona Lisa and Withnail and I ---> 8/24/10
For some reason, Image is releasing these 4 films on BD.

I don't understand why they couldn't let Criterion release those 4 films.
Meanwhile, Image Entertainment has revealed a number of new Blu-ray Disc releases as well, for release in July and August. Among the titles you can expect are Don McKay on 6/29, Larry the Cable Guy: Git-R-Done and Love and Other Disasters on 7/6, Middle of Nowhere, Gabriel Iglesias: Hot and Fluffy and Eyeborgs on 7/13, Just Another Day, Black Narcissus (for Criterion), The Red Shoes (for Criterion), Evil Aliens and UFC Presents World Extreme Cagefighting: Aldo vs. Faber on 7/20, Steve Byrne: The Byrne Identity, Accidents Happen, Victor Victoria: The Broadway Musical and The Secret of the Grain (for Criterion) on 7/27, Splinter on 8/3, Multiple Sarcasms and In the Shadow of the Moon on 8/10, Skellig: The Owl Man on 8/17, and Time Bandits, Withnail and I, $5 a Day, The Long Good Friday and Mona Lisa on 8/24.

Looks like Image will be handling the entire Handmade films library. I'll wait to see reviews to figure out if this is good or bad news.
Image licenses Handmade Films
Chatsworth-based home entertainment distributor Image Entertainment has licensed the 30-plus-title Handmade Films library, which includes such movies as "Time Bandits," "The Long Good Friday" and "Mona Lisa."
Handmade was created in 1978 by former Beatle George Harrison and producer Denis O'Brien. The label's first theatrical release was Terry Gilliam's 1981 "Time Bandits." Other titles include "Withnail and I," "How To Get Ahead In Advertising," "A Private Function” and “Water."
"The Handmade Films library contains some of the greatest and most influential films of the past thirty years. We look forward to making these classics available for the first time on Blu-ray and digital download for a new generation of fans," Image chairman and CEO Ted Green said.

I wonder why Criterion isn't releasing these since they're owned by Image and released these titles before.

Worth noting that the most recent releases of Time Bandits (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0000844JJ), Mona Lisa (http://www.amazon.com/Mona-Lisa-Bob-.../dp/B000EDWLNW) and The Long Good Friday (http://www.amazon.com/Long-Good-Frid.../dp/B000EDWLNM) on SD-DVD were not by Criterion either.

Time Bandits for me! Thanks for the heads up OP! Hopefully they will be able to carry over the special features or come up with some new ones.

Yeah, but that was because Anchor Bay had acquired the license for those films for 2-3 years. I wonder why Image didn't give those films to Criterion, who already have them on their catalog, with some extras. Image is the distributing hand for Criterion now, so these 4 films would likely sell more if the had the full Criterion treatment.

You can thank me for this- they must have heard that I panic-bought the Anchor Bay 16x9 Time Bandits DVD recently after I heard it was out of print.

The UK Blu-ray of Time Bandits looks great. I think I would just import that.
