The last Blu-ray you bought (Round 3)

Re: The last Blu-ray you bought (Round 3)
I'm certainly not taking offense, but am a little perturbed why I'm being called out specifically. I mean I would never say anything about someone's spending habits no matter how ludicrous. I don't even think like that on here. But to count how many purchases I made in a specific time frame is insane if u ask me. I certainly don't say anything about people's tv or movie viewing habits. Some of which I am shocked and amazed at how many shows one can watch and binge. I think it sometimes but I would never call them out in an open forum. Do I make purchases that are sometimes silly and random, sure. Don't we all from time to time, but it's always because I have somewhat of an interest and exhausted other, cheaper means and I'm always within my monetary means. I'm just stunned really...
I'll end things by saying that I do speak from some experience though regarding my comment. Several years ago, I developed a really nasty online shopping addiction. Some family members had to call me out on it before I got my act together. I was buying shit left and right and when all was said and done, I accumulated thousands of dollars of debt on my cards (very close to 10k) and actually rented a storage room to store my shit. I had 10 storage boxes of BDs and DVDs in that room. I was seeing some similarities to my buying habits back then. I actually had to withdraw money from my 401K to pay my debts off. So I wasn't trying to be a dick saying what I said. I'm making more money now than when that happened, but I hurt myself in the long run. After seeing the Alan Smithee thread as well, I ended up selling 80% of my shit. I made some horrible decisions in my past.
So OldBoy I'm so sorry. This is a shopping thread, not a psych or financial disaster thread, so if you're doing okay, then I sincerely apologize.
And AaronSch, I apologize for offending you as well. You're absolutely right. People here buy new expensive cell phones and game consoles after every version is announced. So this is no different than that.
Now please go back and talk about the BDs you all bought.

The last BD I did buy was Captain America: Civil War.
One of my favorite films from this past year and it will probably be the most re-watched. I'll probably do a Captain America marathon at some point.

Well, there's no need to apologize to me. I was not offended. I'm very libertarian and I don't presume what is right for another human being—especially someone I hardly know. I've gone through some of the same things you've experienced and slowly worked my way out.
I am older now and actually prefer relaxing in the comfort of my home with friends and family. Collecting movies is a passion for me as it is for others in this and other forums. Some would say it isn't rational to buy and collect movies that you may only view once. But I see it differently. Many people I know shell out $200 a month on various programming services on cable or satellite and the investment is gone—poof! That's a whole lotta titles I can add to my library permanently each month—and I can trade or sell them as well if I choose. You can't do that with vaporware. I also download the digital codes so that family members and friends can watch many titles in my library via VUDU without borrowing my discs—something I just won't do anymore. The value of collecting is more rational for me than many activities in which others engage. I have a friend who is a sports fanatic and goes to Suns, Cardinals, Coyotes and Diamondback games. Thousands of dollars each year on sporting events and I bet he has a blast. Or people who gamble their money in slot machines or gaming. That's just irrational to me but to each his own. As long as they participate in these activities responsibly and enjoy themselves, who am I to judge?

Re: The last Blu-ray you bought (Round 3)
Got to thank DJ for his little tirade the other day. Reevaluated the 2 choices that brought on the violent outburst and just Netflix'd Grandview, USA and Battleship. Watching USA now and it's not showing any signs of brilliance. Battleship's runtime has me scared. at some of my choices sometimes
