She filmed for a retrospective on the Blu-ray that never came out a decade ago. That's when that quote (by me in 2013) was from. The JLC and Paxton interviews included in the documentary in the digital extras were from around that time so I assume it was for whatever they were producing then. At that time, Dushku was still publicly hiding what happened to her on that movie. There doesn't appear to be an additional documentary in the specs for next year's release.

Re: Cameron Talks Avatar Redux, 3D, Titanic, Abyss/True Lies Blu-ray

Clearly I haven't been keeping up with this thread as I had no idea we were getting a Cameron-palooza dump. I finally watched The Abyss a year or two ago when it was on Prime, and it didn't really do much for me. I rewatched True Lies on some service around the same time, and it didn't age as well as I'd hoped. I'd likely get it on sale, though.

I do want to see Titanic in UHD but don't have it in iTunes. I probably redeemed the BD digital copy on Vudu as I usually do.

I haven’t been truly following this thread so excuse me if already asked…but, are there going to be physical releases of these movies (TL, TA) anytime soon? I see they are purchasable on Vudu, but rather physical for these gems.

Iíve been ready for The Abyss for several years now for sure and Iíve already got the Alien flicks on Blu but the more I see that Aliens cover art the more I like it.

If thereís some new, good extras I might just grab that.

itís already been posted in this thread. But, aside from the upgrade to 4K UHD, the bonus material for Aliens is all legacy extras.

Itís disappointing to see the Titanic discs placed in the coffee table book cardboard sleeves. Just a lack of thoughtfulness and respect to the consumer spending all that money for the item.

It's a shame that Google doesn't exist in the alternate dimension you come from.

Digital Bits reviewed the digital releases... he said, at the time of the reviews, the extended cuts of Abyss and Aliens had not been upgraded to the 4K versions.

WTH are you talking about? Both versions are included. As of right now, the special edition digital version is HD.

The physical copy in March will be 4K for both.

But, you don't even have 4K.

On the digital version, if you look at the extras, the special edition is included

Tom Arnold's cheeks look like the makeup of the Emperor from Return Of The Jedi.

Still frames seem to always look worse than the movie in full motion but yeahÖ.

Thatís very true. Iíll probably still purchase these anyway. If you read the other forum, itís evident that the sky is falling.
American Graffiti is one I wish I hadnít. This canít be as bad as that one.

God, they look like CGI.

Maybe Cameron and Hollywood are trying to get us ready for the day they start making movies with CGI re-creations of actors.

Apparently Cameron hates grain as much as Anakin hates sand.

I'm not sure why anyone thought these would be anything other than what they apparently are.

Re: Cameron Talks Avatar Redux, 3D, Titanic, Abyss/True Lies Blu-ray

There is lots of chatter that Aliens took the existing scan that was used to make the 2010 BluRay and simply upscaled it and ran it through AI. Does not appear to have been a new 4K scan. There are screen shots showing the exact same hair and dust specks on both which is unlikely if different scans were used. Still possible (albeit not probable IMO) they did a new scan of the same elements and did no further clean up but it doesn't look like that happened.

The 2010 scan by was done at 4K at that time, and Cameron was very pleased with the Lowry Digital degraining-followed-by-fake-grain process performed on it. So, yes, I do think it's very likely that the new master builds off that existing work. But that doesn't mean they took the Blu-ray and upscaled it. The scan that the Blu-ray came from was 4K originally, and the Blu-ray was downsampled from that.

None of this is to excuse the new A.I. "enhancements" that Cameron has inflicted onto the movie, of course. But that issue is separate from whether the source is true 4K or not.A 4K scan of Aliens has existed since at least 2010.
