More or less. Though an HD master was apparently completed with Cameron's sign-off in 2019 that Disney chose not to do anything with beyond rare appearances on streaming. The new "restoration" is apparently Cameron tweaking it some more, because he decided the 2019 master wasn't DNR'ed enough or smothered in enough teal-and-orange for his current liking.

Or, as if more likely, most of them have forgotten all about the movie or stopped caring about it at all.

Breaking news from Bill Hunt: The Abyss is absolutely coming to Blu-ray no later than March 2035!

Titanic is now up for Preorder on Amazon for December 5th but I don't think Paramount has made an official announcement for it. Pretty cool cover art if its true.

Not a Titanic fan, but seeing these actual listings means we're probably that much closer to The Abyss actually releasing, so good to see it.

I like Titanic so I'm interested in the upgrade. Might wait on reviews.

I’ll be happy to wait for a digital version in 4K.

I wasn’t able to see the new Titanic 4K upgrade that hit theaters earlier this year. So yes I’m interested in this. It says there is 15 hours of content and a new documentary, so that’s enough to entice me.

Wife and I caught most of True Lies recently flipping around on the TV (HD and unedited), and while still kinda fun, it has NOT aged well, and wasn't nearly as good as I remember it being. And while I would've 100% bought a blu-ray of it, had it been released in the last 10 years, I'm not at all interested in it now. You snooze, you lose, Cameron!

That "ass like a 10 year old boy" line just sticks in my craw, even though I know the character speaking it is a POS.

I re-bought Titanic a few months ago and listened to the two commentaries I hadnít heard before. All three of them (from 2005) are great. It sounds like the new documentary may be the only new feature.

Looks like Titanic will have 2 new behind the scenes segments in addition to the new documentary

and there is also a special edition packaging,

I'll be getting the standard 4k release. That collectors box set is already out of stock on Amazon.

Yeah, I fast forward through most of the non-action bits of the film. I have never been a fan of the parts where they torment Paxton's character, and that whole thing with Tasker's wife never worked for me (at least the part where he watches her do a strip-tease). On the other hand, when I first saw the hyped at the time final action scene that starts with the jets launching missiles at a FL expressway, I was like...yeah, cool scene but I felt that at the time I had seen tons of other action scenes as good if not better than this one, but you know what...it has become a fave scene of mine and I love watching it. It is an action scene that with hindsight I realize was better than I thought it was at the time, and plenty of fun to watch missile blow things up real good.

Would I buy on 4K, maybe...I would get enough enjoyment out of watching just the parts that I like (such as the bathroom fight/gunfight, the bit on the island where Arnie goes to town using a gas pump as a flame thrower, really fun scenes to watch) to consider picking it up.

Looks like it's back in stock to me. But $153 is a bit much.

Only collector's box I could find on Amazon was the 2012 3D set which is long out of print. I couldn't find the set referenced in the Twitter post.

Found it this way. Odd there isn't a direct result when doing a search.

Seach sometimes acts funky on Amazon. I wonder how many sales they may have lost when people can't find shit.

Experience James Cameron’s The Abyss: Special Edition, now remastered in 4K, when it returns to theaters for one night only.

Don’t miss the movie event, only in theaters December 6.

"Tickets go on sale beginning November 20 and can be purchased at Fandango or wherever tickets are sold."

Wow very cool. I've never actually seen the Abyss so there is a good chance I'll go if I can find a theater close to me playing it.

I'll go if it's playing close enough. But I sure hope the eventual physical disc has both cuts on it.

I donít think Iíll be able to see it in theaters since itís playing on a Wednesday but The Abyss has been my favorite Cameron movie for a long time. Iíll definitely pick up the Blu-Ray when itís released.

Re: Cameron Talks Avatar Redux, 3D, Titanic, Abyss/True Lies Blu-ray

I saw this in the theater when it was first released and would love to see it in the theater again but this one day only shit sucks.

At least throw it in theaters for a week to give people a chance to see it whose schedule might not meet up with that one fucking day. So annoying.

Re: Cameron Talks Avatar Redux, 3D, Titanic, Abyss/True Lies Blu-ray

I'll see if I'm free that day. But, I agree it's not fair to schedule a "1-night only" showing for a cult favorite like this and not give fans enough time and opportunity to see it. Very few can just drop everything on a Wednesday and go see it.

I wanted to see the re-release of Back to the Future last month since I never saw it in the theater, but that was a 1-night only thing as well.
