Yeah, I just saw that yesterday. Too bad he didn't go through with it, might have knocked some sense into Weinstein.

Then of course there'd be people cancelling him for being a bully or something instead of standing up to a bully but, you know.

I could have sworn it went back even further, but 13 years ain't bad! Just one more year to beat Duke Nukem Forever!

Blu-ray itself only launched in 2006. I'm not going to dig through his site archives, but I'm pretty sure Bill Hunt started the Abyss on Blu-ray rumor mongering that first year.

Well, I did dig, and this is the earliest mention I could find, which post-dates the USA Today article at the beginning of this thread.

James Cameron:

Today is April 1, the perfect day for Cameron to announce The Abyss, True Lies, Aliens, Titanic and both Avatars on 4K UHD/BD.

It looks like Apple TV+ has True Lies available in HD to subscribers until May 31.

Sadly, the MGM+ app is limited to 2.0 sound. Perhaps if you subscribe through the Amazon channels system you might be lucky enough to get 5.1.

Are we not going to get a physical release of Avatar Way of Water? I can't see one listed anywhere.

^It looks like they have a June 20th release date set, but I think that’s all based off one distributor who posted the date.

Didn't someone here claim that Way of Water would never be available for home viewing? We've already gotten a digital release, and are now getting a physical release as well.

True lies is in the free movie with ads section on YouTube.i only mention it because not only is it in HD but appears to have been remastered. Some scenes have Cameron's trademark "blue tint" in them.

True Lies is currently on Paramount +, MGM + and Prime Video.

https://www.justwatch.com/us/movie/true-lies

I watched it on Prime Video last night and the transfer is actually pretty good. Way better than that horrible transfer that was on Peacock.

Even though the movie is almost 30 years old now, it's still very rewatchable. Tom Arnold actually guest starred on Arnold's new series Fubar.

Apple+ had it last month and must have been the newest transfer because it looked spectacular

Watching it makes me miss James Cameron movies that don't have the word "Avatar" in the title.

And I miss Bill Paxton

True Lies is only viewable on Prime Video via a linked subscription to Paramount+. It is not available to regular Prime subscribers unless they also subscribed to Paramount+ through Amazon's "Channels" system.

Apple TV streamed the same transfer that's currently on Paramount+. It is not a new master. In fact, it's quite old, very likely the same one from the 2003 D-VHS release. It looks fairly decent overall and is entirely watchable, but it's also rather soft and has next to no grain visible.

I did a comparison of the movie on all available streaming services last month:

https://videofileblog.com/true-lies-...arisons-review

*Note that True Lies left Apple TV on May 31st, but it's still on Paramount+ at the moment.

I don't subscribe to Paramount+. When I do a search for True Lies on Prime, two show up. One says "subscribe" and one doesn't. I can select the one that doesn't say "subscribe" and watch it.

Interesting, thanks. That must be new. When I wrote the article last month, there was only the "with Paramount+ subscription" option.

I wonder if it moved over to Amazon after it dropped off Apple TV, perhaps?

When I played True Lies on Prime, the animated MGM + graphic showed up at the beginning. Seems like they are just sharing the transfer.
