He remastered it for 3D. They used that same remaster for the 4K release, which explains why it got so messed up.

Same here. Don’t really care if it works at this point.

so why does Vudu show a listing for both the DC and theatrical of The Abyss and True Lies when they can't be purchased?

I'm guessing the acquisition of Fox by Disney and Disney converting the Fox titles to MA. I'll wager that they'll be available at some point in the future - but not yet.

Word on the street (from Charles de Lauzirika, notable documentarian of behind the scenes docs) is that the remastered version of The Abyss played on HBO today.
Anyone else catch it?

Seems like a real UHD disc announcement may be sooner than later, if that's the case.

It did but it was theatrical cut. True Lies did, too. This was a couple of days ago, so don't know if they're both still there. They also ported over to HULU if you have the add-on.

He’s a busy guy or doesn’t like Cinemax. Cinemax has had the HD’s of The Abyss and True Lies playing since last year.

I thought I saw it on Starz but I saw an HD version of The Abyss over a year ago and it looked fantastic. I can’t remember but I think it was the theatrical cut as well.

Just watched True Lies on HBO. It looks good, and still holds up as a ‘90s action flick. I don’t think it’s something I need to own, though.

I picked up the digital for $2 via Vudu D2D. Same transfer as the one on HBO.

Well, crap. It wasn't available for D2D when I converted a bunch of stuff, but was apparently added back this summer...before all Fox content was pulled by Disney last fall. Now it's not available to purchase at all.

I'm going to try and do the D2D conversion on Vudu, A copy of the dvd is available at my local library so I'll see if it works.

No extras and it’s not MA. Transfer is decent, but not glorious by any means.

No, I was talking about the digital on Vudu. I don’t have high hopes we’ll get anything extensive IF a blu/4K ever comes out. Some old press stuff, maybe a new interview or two at most.

Disney shut off Fox films from D2D last November or so, unfortunately.

I have a post in this thread where Dushku did an interview where she said she had just come from filming some special feature material for this, but that was seven years ago. I'm sure it will be out any day now.

Also, VUDU axed the VUDU to Go app which was used for physical Disc to Digital conversions. The only way to do D2D now is Mobile UPC scanning.

It’s the Blu Ray from Spain. You can get it on EBay.

Looks like it’s not an official studio sanctioned release according to a thread at Blu Ray.com. But a bunch of them did order it. So buy it at your own discretion.
