Lost Season 6 - August 24th?
damn - hopefully this is true
http://tvshowsondvd.com/n/13279 Lost - The Complete 6th and Final Season debuts on ABC this coming Tuesday. But even before that last run of episodes begins airing, the word has leaked out about the home video release for this concluding year of the show. According to VideoETA, a website produced by distributor Ingram Entertainment, both DVD and Blu-ray Disc releases will be coming out on Tuesday, August 24, 2010. Running 714 minutes long, each version will come on 5 discs. The site lists the cost of the standard DVD version at $59.99 SRP, and the high-def Blu-ray Disc edition at $79.99 SRP. Our thanks to one of our readers, Richard , for the heads-up about this info. Specs and package art have not been provided there, nor has Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment officially announced the title at this time. But VideoETA does give a list of some of the bonus material on these releases, and we've got a quote of that list for you below: * Original scripted content that goes deeper into some of the stories, exclusive to Blu-ray and DVD produced by Damon Lindeloff and Carlton Cuse * LOST Bloopers & Deleted Scenes * LOST on Location - Go behind-the-scenes and get the stories from the set, on location in Hawaii from the actors and crew who make it happen. * Crafting A Final Season - Investigation into the goals and expectations of the season through interviews with writers, producers, cast, and crew * Audio Commentaries * LOST University (BD Exclusive, powered by BD-Live) * And MUCH More! Additionally, VideoETA also says that Lost - The Complete Collection will arrive on that same date of August 24th, in both DVD (37 discs, $229.99 SRP) and Blu-ray (36 discs, $279.99) configurations. In addition to the bonus material content from the separate season sets, the information given there says that these big packages will contain "One full disc of bonus exclusive to the Complete Collection...At least two hours of content". Again, ABC/Disney has not formally announced this information yet, so we can't vouch for the complete accuracy of any of the details posted over there. Nor is package art provided, or even described. Stay tuned, though, and we'll fill you in as further developments occur! |

Fuck an exclusive disc for the complete collection! Way to piss on all the people that have been buying them all along if this turns out to be true.

Re: Lost Season 6 - August 24th?
The sooner release is awesome. The potential lack of extras on the individual release is not. If they don't release the complete version in bad ass packaging I'll pass, guaranteed, and hold on to my individual Blu-ray sets.

I honestly don't care about 2 hours of bonus stuff.
I do wish they would record commentaries for more episodes. Hearing the behind the scenes stuff from Lindelof and Cuse would be awesome, and they can go more in depth then since the show is over. The only downside to the current Lost sets is the lack of commentaries. |

I do hope that maybe they somehow let you show proof of the six individual releases you have purchased, and they'll send you the bonus disc for free, or $3 or so. I do love the earlier release though! Only about 82 more hours and Lost will be back! |

Then you should have held off. Anyone could have told you that the eventual complete collection would have included stuff not available in the single season sets. It's practically common sense.
but 35 bucks at Best Buy the other week was pretty hard to pass up. for me at least. |
Re: Lost Season 6 - August 24th?
I'm just saying, for anyone who bought the individual season sets to call an extra bonus disc in the complete series set a 'slap in the face' is a bit much.
|
Re: Lost Season 6 - August 24th?
It is a slap in the face regardless of how you look at it unless they come up with a way to make it fair for those that bought the sets all along. If the sets had sold piss poorly then we wouldn't even be looking at a complete series release. It goes both ways. And who could hold off on owning a show like this until it is over?

The only downside to the current Lost sets is the lack of commentaries. The complete sets sound like they're just repackaging all of the pre-existing discs with a new bonus disc. I would love to see the whole series sets redone with the whole picture in mind; either commentary tracks on old episodes that delve into the mythology that was later established, maybe some trivia tracks that explain the minutia, information on abandoned characters and storylines. I've been buying this on DVD, with idea that I'd pick up the complete series on Blu. Depending on what's on the "bonus" disc, I might pass on the complete series. |

Re: Lost Season 6 - August 24th?
Exactly. It's a common practice now, and although one might be disappointed not to have that bonus disc after the fact, it's certainly not a 'slap in the face' since they should have realized this is what would have happened well in advance. I'm not going to buy a LOST Complete Series boxed set for an extra disc. If however the packaging is REALLY amazing, then I might consider, if it's display worthy. Other than that, I'm pretty content with what I have.

I still think studios could/should do something cool for season buyers. Maybe not offer the exclusive disc, but something different by mail with PoP tabs from the seasons. That would satisfy everyone. |

$56?
Oh well, preordered anyways. Hopefully that price comes down $10 or so before August. |
Re: Lost Season 6 - August 24th?
i preordered from amazon. thanks for the link.

Re: Lost Season 6 - August 24th?
A re-done series set including more commentaries, all of the pop-up tracks that they have had in the past seasons, and spectacular packaging would get me to sell off my sets and get it. Offering a bonus disc will not get me to undertake the expense and hassle of rebuying the sets as a whole. If they really want to reward the viewers that have supported the show by purchasing the products as they went along then they should put together the ultimate package for that one final purchase.

Even owning the full series, something like that would still be a must buy. |

I hope we at least get a special kind of packaging for the complete set instead of simply all the other boxes inside a big box. If not, maybe Target will have a replica hatch or something. If the U.S. doesn't come up with anything I'm sure another country will.

I agree with the general sentiment of this thread that it would be nice if they offered a way to receive it by mail for fans that already have all the other individual sets. LOST is my favorite show/movie of all time, but I need to have a limit on how much I can invest in the show financially. EDIT: But who am I kidding... I'll probably get it anyway. |
