I love Rushmore, but I have always thought it felt slightly long. The exact moment I feel the pacing derails slightly is when Max is having the second groundbreaking and Herman gets angry.

I've heard enough good about this film, and I'm a big enough Anderson fan, that I'll blind buy this.

you won't be disappointed. it's a travesty that chipmunks 2 can make $200 million and this barely made back half it's budget.

If that ends up being the case, I may end up waiting; I know Anderson has gone on record that he'd like Criterion to release all his films.

Travesty? Try criminal! I said this in another thread and someone told me that "Fox" is more a film for adults (!?)

Did you guys know that when you put long stuff like '-------->' after the title of the movie, the date doesn't show up in the last post column of the main forum home page?

Even though The Darjeeling Limited was Wes's best film ever, this film was fantastic. I have had this pre-ordered since the 1st day Amazon.com posted it. I cannot wait to see this again.

I have still YET to find an online sale price that is less expensive than this - maybe by the end of this week, the price might job a little bit more. [fingers crossed]

Re: Fantastic Mr. Fox -------> 3/23/10 (BD + DVD + DC)

Amazon should at least come down to $24.99 to match Target. Sometimes Amazon does their weekly release price matches too late for me. I have already picked up Up in the Air this week for 24.99 at Target when Amazon dropped their price to $22.99. I have no patience.

Also going to blind buy this. I haven't been gaga over Anderson's other work but this one seems like something special - I hope it is.

I'm thinking of buying this used and I just wanted to know if there is a slipcover?

Ok, thanks. I can't guarantee getting the slipcover when buying used, so that makes me feel better.

There aren't any blu-ray exclusive extras, right?

On the BD vs DVD? Yes. BD has a few extra minor things.

I thought I remembered reading that it would before release date, but I just read the bd review at Hi-Def Digest and it says there are none. Thanks man, going to place my order.

IIRC, it's like 8 featurettes on the BD and only 4 are on the DVD. So you are missing about 20-25 minutes or so of stuff. I reviewed it (and the DVD) so I remember

^And be careful if the used copy is a RENTAL VERSION, because those ones have NO extras whatsoever.

Re: Fantastic Mr. Fox -------> 3/23/10 (BD + DVD + DC)

Fox has been doing it with blu-rays for a while now. At first the case just carried a 'Rental Version' banner but had identical content - now they have been dropping the extras as well - first one I can think of is Wolverine - everything since then from Fox that is a 'rental version' has zero extras, so proceed with caution.

Re: Fantastic Mr. Fox -------> 3/23/10 (BD + DVD + DC)

Fantastic movie. Took the wife to New York City just before Christmas and a bunch of the sets were made into window displays at Bergdorf Goodman on 5th Ave. Really cool to see them.

My kids absolutely love it, too.

Back in 2000, Esquire ran a series of essays on who the next Martin Scorsese would be. There were half a dozen directors profiled but the man Scorsese himself picked was Anderson:

http://www.esquire.com/features/wes-...?click=main_sr

Anderson's films for me:
The Royal Tenenbaums (A+)
Bottle Rocket (A)
Fantastic Mr. Fox (A)
Rushmore (B+)
The Life Aquatic (B-)
The Darjeeling Limited* (C+)

*His only film that I haven't watched more than once. All the others have had at least 3 viewings with as many as 10. I need to re-watch Darjeeling but just haven't done so.
