Cool. I have it ordered from Amazon, but will cancel the order if there's nothing new.

What about those focus points? Those are new.

Yeah, it might be though strange Warner didn't say it's a BD Exclusive like they normally do. OTOH, I seem to recall something similar on the Inifilm DVD which sometimes had those kind of features.

I gotta get this on release day. The whole series is excellent. Part 6 was REALLY ridiculous, but with that being said its still watchable.

The trailer is no longer included. That's what's missing.

Luckily, I have the 4 Film Favorites sets, for the sequels, and that has the trailers.

Yeah, I still have Nightmare on Elm Street collection that was released 10 years ago so the trailers are on there. Hopefully we'll see the series on BD when the remake comes out on BD.

Most impressive...especially considering the 2-disc Infinifilm SE DVD release they were all taken from dates way back to 2006....this is a very unexpected, but welcome surprise....

I was curious if the U.S release would have DNR like he Canadian Release.

Glad to see it doesn't Definitely getting this Day 1 now :)

The question is, is the "sound effect" snafu on the old disc going to be present again? Admittedly, it meant nothing to me, and I bought the Infinifilm anyway, but I'm still curious.

They're encoded at 1080i, but the interviews are clearly standard-def. Some of the post-production stuff, like scans of newspaper articles and the "also on DVD!" shots, are HD-res, though. The excerpts from the sequels in the Focus Points are high-def too.

Oh, good news. I hadn't seen any mention of that. I was hoping the WB marketing team would come through. $16.99 on Amazon + free ticket might get me to buy it now.

Very much worth it if you planned on seeing the film (the BD is essentially $10). Very impressed with it. Wish all Warner catalogs were this nice.

And unlike Clash of the Titans, the ticket is good on opening weekend (4/30-5/23)

I was undecided after the first trailer. But I saw a new one recently, and I think it's convinced me to check it out. My biggest gripe with what I've seen is Haley's makeup. Still doesn't look good to me, but everything else looks good.

Have you looked at Poseidon yet? I'm sure it's a replica of the HD DVD. I want it, but Amazon is asking $18.99 for it. Too much for that one.

I wasn't planning on seeing it in Theaters, but a free ticket will push me to.

Poseidon is the unpressed (why? who knows) Blu-ray version from 2007 with a DTS MA track instead of the TrueHD. The IME feature from the HD DVD (that DVDTalk raved about)is not even on the disc(Blu-ray didn't really have PiP, remember?). If you have the HD DVD, there is zero reason to dump it.

Re: A Nightmare on Elm Street ----> 4/6/10

I thought this was coming out Tuesday. Damn it. Just noticed it's the 13th. I figured it'd Tuesday since Poseidon comes out. They usually like to release catalogs at the same time. Maybe someone will beat the $16.99 price, but I bet $19.99 is the lowest we'll see from the major retailers. It'd be mind boggling to think they'd give the fans an actual good deal on a new release.

Mr. Cinema 04-02-10 07:15 PM

Re: A Nightmare on Elm Street ----> 4/6/10

The back cover of Poseidon says it has the In Movie Experience. It's showing DTS-HD also, so it can't be old artwork.

You can always try going in to Best Buy and telling them (ie lying) that they have the wrong release date in their system, and that the correct one is indeed 4/6 - and then show them the product page on blu-ray.com that hasn't updated to the new release date yet. It's worked for me before - when Heat was delayed by a week, I went in a week early and showed them a website that didn't reflect the new release date, and they let me buy a copy. Though I can see why that might be too much effort for some people just to get a movie a little early.

I'll ask someone on my review team since he has it and says there was no IME on it. The cover art online may be before Warner changed it?

TheMovieman 04-02-10 08:54 PM

Re: A Nightmare on Elm Street ----> 4/6/10

Yeah, probably temp artwork, because there is no IME and the back cover does not list it either. So the IME is still an HD DVD exclusive. Go figure.

Best Buy.com had it listed at $24.99 a week ago I assume it's still that price now.

How does this release measure up to the Canadian release? Obviously this one has special features, but in terms of PQ.

I kinda like the cover for the Canadian release more.

Good review Adam.

Interesting... didn't really notice that the Canadian version had DNR or EE. I'm tempted to order the US edition, but I really am cutting back on my BD spending, not to mention this would be a double dip.

Oh well. Maybe the movie money will convince me!

I was going to hold off on this, but Adam's review, combined with the movie money and the fact that this is my favorite slasher of the 80's (maybe my favorite slasher ever) convinced me to order it from Amazon.

Blockbuster is probably one place that could. I think they've broken street dates on catalog titles several times. I doubt it'll be cheap there.

I'm hoping a Best Buy will since I have very little money, but I have some money on a gift card and $10 RZ certificate I've been holding onto for this. But if not, whatever, I'll have to wait until next week.

When did they change the date? If it was recently then the stores should already have them, if it was a while ago then maybe they didn't ship. A lot of stores get their movies the week before or earlier than that. But you might be right.

The Monkees 04-07-10 12:03 AM

I stopped in a Best Buy today with no luck. Oh well, I'll just have to wait.
