5.1 audio equipment is required for playback of the 5.1 mix.
Funny how that works.

Re: Trent Reznor/Atticus Ross - The Social Network (soundtrack) 10/18

Just bumping this thread because I finally got my copy of this.

After some trouble with my HTPC, I managed to get the 5.1 track to play in its full 96/24 5.1 audio. It's probably one of the best 5.1 mixes I've heard. Not gimmicky. Very well balanced. Oh, and the music is great!

If anyone's into the high-res audio-only discs, this one would be great to add to your collection.

Where did you get your copy from? I was interested in getting this around the release of the film but amazon.ca wasn't selling it. I didn't really check anywhere else ...

This is THE best I've ever heard - you know, from my extensive audio collection. But really, I've played this over and over so many times now, and the mix is just absolute reference IMO. Reminds me of Reznor's soundmix on the Nine Inch Nails concert BD.

Yavin, check this out.

While the CD is available nearly everywhere, the Blu-Ray soundtrack is only available at the link trespoochies posted, I believe.

My only minor complaint is that I would have preferred this to be in a Blu-ray sized package, not a CD-sized digipak. Oh well.

I got the free 5 track download a while back and have it on my iPod and I really enjoy it. Is the whole album as good as that EP?

Yes. At the very least, you should pay the $5 to get the remaining 14 tracks in MP3, FLAC, or Apple Lossless.

The Blu-ray is really only necessary if you have the equipment to support 96khz/24bit audio in stereo or 5.1, since the disc has both. If you DO have the equipment, I consider this a must-have, even at the $20 price on their website.

Thanks guys, I wasn't aware that this was the only place to get the Blu-ray soundtrack.

Seeing that the Inception Blu-ray includes Zimmer's lossless score on the second disc, I wonder if there's a chance that the Blu-ray release of The Social Network will have the same bonus. That would be really nice.

Hmm, may just do the MP3 version. I listen to all my music in the car or at work on my iPod, the 5.1 thing would just sit on my shelf and collect dust.

thanks
