What kind of bullshit is that?? Just disregard the first release of the movies and only focus on the secondary release? I paid more money so I should have gotten it first out of anybody! Whatever, I got some money out of it anyway...

Should be... at least you will be able to put it towards the ticket price.

Re: Toy Story 1 and 2 03/23/2010

Any known plans on where Toy Story 3 comes to Blu-Ray if we will get a Toy Story 1 & 2 Blu-Ray rerelease including all old and new special features on 1 set. I want these on Blu but I already own the 2 Disc and Ultimate Toy Box editions and don't wanna get a 3rd release on Blu-Ray unless it has all of the special features of at least the 2-disc editions.

with the exception of the double dip of Cars, I don't see Pixar rereleasing any of their films until the whole 3D blurays/tv go into full swing.

Re: Toy Story 1 and 2 03/23/2010

If 1 & 2 contain all of the features from their previous releases, there wouldn't be any reason to re-release them.

I imagine there will probably be a pretty amazing limited edition box package when 3 comes out, but I would doubt it would have any new special features.

Yeah but the new Toy Story Blu-Rays DO NOT include all features from previous releases, and includes new features, but not the older ones. According to DVD Beaver's comparison between the multiple releases.

Why would anyone know about plans for Toy Story 3's Blu-ray release when it's still months away from being released in the theater?!

Clamshells ?
Target typically puts new release Blu-rays in very thick, clear plastic cases. Blu-rays with slipcovers won't fit properly, so either employees cram them into these anti-theft cases (destroying the slipcovers), or they outright remove them from the slipcovers before placing them in these abominations. I hadn't heard them referred to as "clamshells" yet, though.

"Mismatching" how? That the actual package depths won't be the same, or that the artwork won't be uniform?

Pixar is pretty protective of their stuff. I know they rolled out the Toy Storys in 3D last year, but I'd be surprised if they retroactively issue any of their other 2D catalog in 3D. It seems to me they're more likely to work up new material in 3D in the first place, rather than re-issue the titles already out. I could easily be mistaken, though.

It may seem strange to you, but we've grown accustomed anymore to knowing DVD/Blu-ray release plans before a theatrical opening. It's not always the kind of speculative rumor mill gossip you might think it is, either; often, it comes directly from studio press releases and industry ads.

I don't know what's up with our Target ... but in the Austin Arboretum area there's no clamshells on anything (which is where I usually shop... I live on Jollyville). I remember seeing them at Super Target in Cedar Park however, but releases with slipcovers don't have em.

Yeah our Target sucks about slipcovers. They either jam them into security cases or, even worse, put the clam shells around them, bending and denting them. I was told that anything over $25 goes into them. They even have a cop/security guard in that section putting movies in them.

I was referring to the case probably being a different size (width).

how the HELL do you get to the 'magical savings' webpage on the Disney website (for the coupons) - I hate it... it's visual overkill to the nth degree.

The sign-in bars are under the video clip that plays in the middle of what appears to be a stage. Once you're signed in, you'll find an orange-ish box on the right hand side. Under that box, you'll see a question about where you got your code, and a drop-down menu of choices. Enter your code in the box above that drop-down menu. I know how confusing it sounds, but once you've done this a few times, it's pretty easy to navigate.

Current Coupons Linked Below

Here are DVDTalk threads about the Toy Story $5 coupons, $10 coupons, and $8 coupons. Also pre-order both Toy Story combo packs at Toys-R-Us in-store before Tuesday and get $20 (supposed to be $15, but glitching to $20) off any other Disney title, and TRU will be the best place to buy them anyway.

Thanks! I was focused on the current releases, Toy Story mainly, but you're right, I might as well put those links in the 12 places I posted that list.
