Re: Toy Story 1 and 2 03/23/2010
Now that I think about it, the only disappointing thing (for the first film at least) is that they removed the Pixar animated "Disney castle" which was something really neat when it actually came out. Yes, they have a new Disney castle, but sometimes it's a part of the movie's history.

Are the new 20th anniversary reissues that came out on Nov 2015 the same blu-rays but with new artwork?

Re: Toy Story 1 and 2 03/23/2010
Same, except they replaced the DVDs with digital HD codes. Toy Story 3 came out too.

Did they omit any of the extras? Was there a trilogy box? The cover art sucks, but if it keeps the extras and has DMA HD, that's not a bad deal.

Re: Toy Story 1 and 2 03/23/2010
I believe all the lost extras for the first two movies were lost long ago when the original DVD Toy Box of the first two movies became the original BD releases (and DVD re-releases).

Ooh - cool thing I held on to the Toy Box after the blu-rays came out (I just stuck the blus in that box along with the DVDs).

Re: Toy Story 1 and 2 03/23/2010
And if I recall, these extras were on the big laserdisc set - at least in regards to the first Toy Story. I have t but haven't looked at the extras since I originally bought way back then.

Disney should release a new blu-ray box set since the UK set is the only one you can get with all 3 movies.

Re: Toy Story 1 and 2 03/23/2010
Why are all the animation studios going with these "selfie" type covers?
Dreamworks has done it with most of their rereleases including all the Shrek and Madasgar titles. http://thumbs.ebaystatic.com/d/l225/...1fWwqL63zQ.jpg http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...pL._SX342_.jpg I noticed Fox is doing it with the covers like Ice Age on Vudu. Not sure if their blu-rays are being rereleased the same way: http://www.vudu.com/movies/#search/ice age And I've seen Warner do it with their budget Tom and Jerry and Bugs Bunny titles. http://www.amazon.com/Tom-Jerry-Frie...ZD5PZBJF6KQR1D |
Re: Toy Story 1 and 2 03/23/2010
I suspect some marketing expert has determined that one big head has been proven to be be better than a bunch of floating ones (as it relates to DVD/BD covers). Of course what they really should go with is the original poster and marketing art, but we often see them go completely way from that.

But even if it wasn't, are people now thinking that there is no way to get OOP releases? And unlike other OOP titles that go for double or triple the prior selling price, that box can easily be had for no more than buying each individual copy new. I don't expect to ever see 3 Pixar films in a set for only $36 unless it's used copy on ebay, from a seller with a crappy rating. They normally go for around $15 each even when they are on a major sale. They are even $10 each on BF and then go back to the normal $20+ price point. YMMV |
