I'm SICK & TIRED of all these DAMN Stickers on my BD Slipcovers!
I did a search but found nothing.

It took me over 20 minutes (even with the use of goo-remover) to get off all the GAWD-DAMN stickers they're putting all over my slipcovers!
The new Night at the Museum cover (for example) had 5, and 2 of them had this extra plastic BASTARD sticker UNDERNEATH the STINKING stickers! Being a metallic-like shiny cover, one actually took some of the picture off when I removed it.
Anyone else around here fed up with this garbage?

I hear you, Paul. My problem is removing chunks of the cover in the process of removing the stickers. I would think Goo Gone would stain the covers as well. I just started leaving them on.

this is why i throw my slipcovers away unless the cover art isn't the same as the sleeve...too much hassle. i feel your pain though.

I noticed one connecting the slipcover to the BD case underneath Fight Club. I went to peel it off and it started to tear the slip. So I just ended up tucking it inside the slip.
I hated the ones on the Bond movies for the movie cash last year. Also dislike how Lionsgate has to put three security stickers on the top/bottom/side of the case which in turn leaves residue on the case.

Yeah, maybe I'll leave 'em on, or throw the damn covers away. I haven't decided yet.
It's just that they go to the trouble to make the covers reflective or embossed (so you can feel stuff) or what have you, and then to have garbage stuck all over the artwork makes me wanna kick the CRAP outta something.
Just think about what HELL would break out if they did that to let's say...
THE MONA LISA FOR PETE'S SAKE!!!

For that reason alone (let alone their high prices), I will not buy a blu-ray that has a slipcover worth collecting from Fred Meyers.

What has been grinding my gears as of late is that I've been getting quite a few Blu-rays where the shrinkwrap gets stuck on the spine.

I happened to go to Best Buy and Wal-Mart in the past couple days and passed on buying Terminator Salvation because they put price tags on the slipcover. Finally got it for the same price at Target which didn't stick anything on it.
I hate this practice MORE than the biggest hater of snapper cases. I don't buy used because I want all my stuff in perfect condition- that's the point of putting shrinkwrap on stuff! It's beyond stupid to shrinkwrap the case then put a slipcover outside of that! There's been several discs I would have bought on impulse, but didn't because they had store stickers on them. It's funny that studios have been complaining about DVD sales slowing down- maybe it's because they're doing THIS? (Along with zero inserts and plain disc labeling, some looking not much better than someone's homemade disc.)
When I did a Best Buy online survey (that one they give you codes for on the receipt to win a gift card) I commented that I simply won't buy any discs that are not shrinkwrapped and have store stickers placed on the slipcovers- they still put their tags on them so I don't buy them. I wrote to Home Media Retailing last year about this, but they didn't print the letter. I've also called Disney's 800 number complaining about this, yet they still continue to do it (Sleeping Beauty was the first DVD to be shipped this way). Only Sony has stopped because of "ecological concerns".
What REALLY cracked me up was when Best Buy had an exclusive lenticular slipcover for the Rob Zombie "Halloween" movie, which they charged a few dollars EXTRA for, yet that wasn't shrinkwrapped and all the copies I ever saw had their price tags on the front! Now they've got a special edition cover for the new Terminator, which looked pretty cool, but that comes in a plastic box with no shrinkwrap and it has their price tag covering the title! (I know that box probably isn't meant to be saved, but if I bought it I would save it.)

Re: I'm SICK & TIRED of all these DAMN Stickers on my BD Slipcovers!
some of my older dvd slipsleeves have transparent stickers on them that
come off really easy.
i think that practice was intended, so that stores would put their
price stickers on top of those!?
what i don`t understand though, the glue that is for example on company
stickers makes them come off without any damage to the sleeve.
some cheap store stickers fall apart into a large number of pieces and
residue remains on the sleeve. can`t the stores just use better stickers!!??
would definitely be the easiest solution!
as for foil around the sleeves i am actually not so fond of that, because
they are always so tight, that the edges of the sleeves get destroyed!
that danger would be even greater for blurays, as the edges of the case are
much rounder than the amaray dvd cases, making the space for ugly dents
even greater!

The first printing of Star Trek and South Park had shrinkwrap right over the slipcovers. I wish they'd do that with all slipcover releases. No pricetags and the slipcovers get much less dented and dinged while going through the retail process.

The stickers (while bad) are still nowhere near as annoying as the tape they use for in-store pickup (where they tape a piece of paper to the slipcover) - using packaging tape on a 'shiny' slipcover just tears that foil right off. I don't know how many of these have been 'ruined' by in-store pick-up. I just won't even do it anymore for titles with a slipcover.

Thanks a lot.

Call me a wimp, but I think that would be more than my heart could handle.

The stickers have always come off easily without leaving any marks on all of the BD's with slipcovers that I've bought at Best Buy or anywhere else. But yeah, I agree about the shrinkwrap sticking to the spine Pisses. Me. Off!
