i've gotten to the point that i will discard slipcovers unless there is something really compelling me to keep them.

If you bought Terminator 2 or Fight Club from Best Buy, you wouldn't be saying that.

Fred Meyers (in the NW) are far, far worse. The price sticker also contains a sensormatic within it. Good Luck removing that sticker without ruining the slipcover.
For that reason alone (let alone their high prices), I will not buy a blu-ray that has a slipcover worth collecting from Fred Meyers.

The costco price stickers also suck depending on the cover. Shorts had a more papery slipcover so that price sticker was ripping long before it came off. Lots of sticky crap still left on that one.

I was at Fry's the other day and before I was leaving the cashier asked me if I wanted the stickers removed (just bought Fight Club). Of course I say yes, so he proceeds to take it in the back somewhere and the stickers are off. The area where the first sticker was very hot so he used some sort of tool and now I'm anxious to get one.
I didn't bother asking but now I want one of those.

I was never big on slipcovers to begin with but I agree many Blu-ray titles seem to be covered in the damn things. I pretty much just throw all mine away now unless the slip cover is different from the regular cover.

The little security seals usually don't prove too difficult, though, except when they shred (instead of coming off in one, clean piece), and then you have to keep picking at them to get the entire piece off. The best thing for removing the residue these can sometimes leave on the case, though, are the seals themselves! Whenever there's a bit of sticky left here or there, I reapply the seal in that one spot, rub on it, and peel away. Always gets the sticky off, and never leaves additional residue. Either that or packing tape. To get sticky off of slipcovers, I use Priority Mail shipping tape. It always works, and yet never seems to mess up the cover itself. It's saved my covers from many a retarded store sticker, let me tell you.

The only one I have had a problem with during my Blu-Ray buying era was Fight Club. Interestingly, have a gooey mess on the slipcover kind of matches the cover. :P

If you peel off the Best Buy price sticker from their exclusive Terminator Salvation head packaging clear box, you might pull off a few letters from "Sam Worthington." At least that's what happened to me. I had to exchange my copy because of this. I'm keeping the sticker on the new copy.

lol, I always did that with my criterion dvds. I have the oval Blu-Ray sticker on most of the early Sony Blu-rays also!

I usually use Mineral Spirits and that works too, but you have to be fast otherwise it will remove all the print. If you leave it on too long, you can use the saturated slipcover for fireplace kindling during these winter months! Finally! A reason to keep these suckers!
Some of that letter removal happened to me with NATM2.
& DthRdrX: Looks & Sounds like that works!
(When I don't rip 'em to shreds in anger, I usually slap them on multicolored Post-it stickers and keep 'em in the case.)'embraced the sticker'
