Troma on Blu-ray
From http://www.dvdtalk.com/horror/blog/toxies_back.html :
Troma's 35th year is proving to be one of our strongest yet. In addition to our strong slate of new movies and productions, we'll be releasing a new blu-ray every month starting in January.

Awesome news, now I can (hopefully) have Troma's catalog in Blu.
Will there be a January release? It say's they will start releasing Blu's in January, but Poultrygeist comes out in Feb.

re: Troma on Blu-ray
im not expecting them to, considering how old some of them are and how low-budget they are. i DO hope that poultrygeist looks good. besides toxic avenger, poultrygeist is my favorite troma movie.

I was thinking the same. Will take some new features and (hopefully) cleaner transfer for me to purchase on Blu.
As others have said though, i doubt the transfer will look great, just slightly better. The Toxie films are all very low budget, but I hope they put out a good transfer.

Calm down everybody, Troma on Blu-ray means everything looks shittier, and that should be a good thing.
Definitely will grab Poultrygeist and any Toxic Avenger that comes out.

Poultrygeist should look good in HD... it was shot on 35mm stock. ...
...
Unlike, unfortunately, every. other. troma. production. ever.

Agreed. I've found that I've come to appreciate them more over the years. I'll definitely pick up Poultrygeist and am looking forward to hearing what their other releases will be. Do you really think they'll make Toxic Avenger the first release? I would have thought they would treat it like the Star Wars of the lineup, hold it back for a little bit to get people excited about it. OK, I supposed that is a flawed comparison. We all know that Star Wars gets held back for way more than just a little bit.

That's their moneymaker that got them started. Then it went downhill from there. There's no way it won't be one of the first release products.
Main thing I'm worried about is that they don't care about aspect ratios or putting out the best product they can. Even things like subtitles have been jacked up. I remember, I think it was The Children, where the director had some extra stuff and was really interested in being part of the project with getting the movie out but they ignored him.
I'm interested in some things but I'm going to wait for reviews first.

When I first read this, the Toxie films were the first to come to mind. The headache I've had trying to differentiate the full Uncut films to the ones just marked wrong.

re: Troma on Blu-ray
The more Troma movies I see the more I like them. I think it is safe to say Toxic Avenger could be Troma's first release. That movie essentially made Troma and that is Kaufman's baby. I will have to read reviews to see if an upgrade is worth it, since I own the Complete Toxic Avenger Boxset. I hope the release the movies in a new blu-ray boxset with possibly new features? It would be awesome if the Toxic Crusaders was included, I love that cartoon.

Sweet. Just put my old 3-Disc on Amazon.com
I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt that the excellent feature-length making-of will be included.
Definitely Troma's best film... it's just too bad that it's the only one shot on 35MM.
Are most of their other features 16mm or shot on tape? I think a bigger factor is also that all of their films (minus Poultrygeist, of course) are 1.33:1 and, from Kaufman's recent cropped release of Toxie I think we can expect them cropped to 16x9.
