The new slipcover!
Ok, who has seen them? I've seen a few titles with the new slipcover, a thin piece of cardboard glued to the front of the shrinkwrap, or taped depending on the store.
If you havn't seen them check out Sons of Anarchy. Generally, I know some love/hate slipcovers but this sucker just makes the package look cheap.

Isn't it just Fox releases that have these?

Another disastrous packaging decision for home video on media. The studios, having fired most of the capable decision makers since the recession hit, now have trained monkeys making decisions.

Horrible idea. Normally I would like any discardable slipcover so your case isn't damaged by the store's price/sale stickers, but when you peal off the cardboard, the glue ruins your case. My Prison Break Blu-Ray case needed to be replaced because of this.

The one's I've had for Dollhouse and Prison Break both left the front case disfigured because of the glue yet Lie to Me was different and peeled right off with no problem.

Slip covers are made to distinguish the title on shelves - grab a consumers eyes. By adding these little cardboard 'postcard' its essentially doing the same thing, just using less cardboard. It stands out just as well but it now used 60% less cardboard. Personally I just take them off and stick them inside the plastic (over the coverart). They fit nicely.

Had this on my SD copy of Dollhouse: Season 1
Only annoyed me because it made the packaging look all funky afterward.

I saw a few of these the other day, and could not think of any good reason for them. Glad to see others sharing my confusion. This has to be one of the stupidest ideas yet.
