I was thinking that same thing about the editing feature, ha.

But whatever, awful/amazing movie at the same time, can't wait to buy it because it'll be stacked. I kind of wanted the cover to match the first, with two heads and a clear slip, like what's on the FYE sign.

Same here. In fact, it would have made perfect sense since the two would look nice side by side. However, didn't Paramount abandon slipcovers altogether? Cos I've seen plenty of copies of the original BD with a standard case and no slipcover.

I read awhile back that Sony has stopped doing them, as for Paramount, they didn't do a whole lot to begin with. For every Iron Man and Transformers, there was Indiana Jones IV and Zodiac.

Ben Button does have one, but that might have more to do with Criterion.

That cover was one of several theatrical movie posters used for the movie.
I have this poster autographed by peter cullen using a nice silver paint pen.

There is no mention of aspect ratios, are we still getting the imax version of this with this release or was bay just talking out of his AZZ

Over at blu-ray.com it was mentioned that this will be like TDK with shifting aspect ratios (2.40:1 for 35mm and 1.78:1 for IMAX).

Let us only hope that Paramount/Dreamworks learned a lesson from TDK/Warner, and will make a proper master for BD using the 35mm elements for those portions of the film, and not use a crappy Imax "enhanced" print for the whole thing....
You would think with how vocal Bay was about BD over HD DVD and his first TF movie (back during the format war) that he would be knowledgeable enough to make sure the same mistakes made with TDK wouldn't be repeated here....

The LFE better be good. :)

Re: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen - 10/20/09

It'd be sad if this gets a TDK treatment. I'm not a fan of the movie but you'd expect it to look at the very least as good as Transformers did on BD. As for the LFE, the only moment I think will spark controversy is when Demolisher (the wheelbot) runs over all those cars on that bridge in Shanghai. That moment during that action sequence was very wimpy in the LFE department.

Yeah, it should. Back when Transfomers: Revenge of the Fallen first came out in the theater Bay talked about how excited he is for the Blu Ray release, and he mention that he wanted it to have shifting aspect ratios.

It didn't really distract me in TDK, so it's not really a bother to me, but the home theater 'shifting aspect ratios' thing, I just don't get it.

It's to keep the OAR.

No, I 'understand' it Blu Man. I just don't find switching aspect ratios to be preferable for at home viewing, that's a personal opinion I have. That's all.

I was expecting this thread to be full of people saying how stupid they thought the movie was. I'm pleasantly surprised that isn't the case. I actually liked the movie, for what it was.

I'm looking forward to this release. The ALLSPARK experiment sounds like a pretty cool feature.

I'm sure it's stupid as hell, but I'll at least rent it to see Fox running around in a skimpy shirt.

The movie is stupid as hell. However, the awesomeness of the Shanghai battle, Ravage's cool but all too brief assault on a military compound (complete with a blink-and-you-miss-it bloody shot of a soldier getting sliced vertically in half), the hotness of Isabel Lucas, the fantastic forest battle, and a delightfully gratuitous slo-mo shot of Meagan Fox running towards the camera make it worth watching at least once. :D:up:

However, there's so much stupid shit in the movie, it's doubtful you'll want to watch it ever again. Heck, I'm still debating if I even want to so much as rent the BD.

Re: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen - 10/20/09

There will be two BD releases. The theatrical, non-IMAX cut and the extended, Wal-Mart exclusive, IMAX cut: http://www.shootfortheedit.com/forum...ead.php?t=5972

Exclusive version: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...ct_id=12534009

Regular version: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...ct_id=12342058

I'd say wait for some reviews on both releases. Given how the crappy IMAX transfer is what was used for The Dark Knight, there's a chance the non-IMAX release of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen might actually look better. Buyer beware.

People really thought the IMAX transfer for "The Dark Knight" looked crappy? I thought it was amazing, maybe the best thing I've seen on Blu.

I'm sure "crappy" is an exaggeration, but it doesn't look as good as it should. To make the standard 35mm portions look "cleaner" on IMAX, the image was filtered and then artificially sharpened. The moments in the film shot expressly with IMAX in mind look astonishing, but the 35mm material is definitely compromised on Blu-ray, and it's not up to the highest standards of the format.

Yes, it looked crappy. Although the IMAX footage did indeed look good, their scan of the 35mm footage (the bulk of the footage in TDK) was horrid. There was tons of ringing, lots of shimmering, and crappy contrast. Unless Paramount scanned the 35mm separately and let IMAX scan the IMAX footage and later spliced the two transfers together, this runs the risk of having the same problems that plagued TDK.
