UP (blu-ray/dvd/digital copy) 11/10

http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/g...workr1pic3.jpg

This 4-Disc set features 2-Disc Blu-ray, Up DVD plus digital copy. Made in USA. Rated PG. Available to own November 10, 2009.

4-Disc Up Blu-ray™ with DisneyFile & Blu-ray

BONUS FEATURES FOR UP
• Commentary by director Pete Docter and co-director Bob Peterson.
• Dug’s Special Mission – An all new original short film that follows the misadventures of Dug as he attempts to complete his “special mission.” The short is directed by Up Story Supervisor, Ronnie Del Carmen.
• The Many Endings of Muntz – Many ideas were hatched about how to dispose of the film’s arch villain, Muntz, and now viewers can see the many alternate endings proposed during story development.
• Partly Cloudy – The hilarious short film that preceded screenings of Up. Everyone knows that the stork delivers babies, but where do the storks get the babies? The answer lies up in the stratosphere where the cloud Gus is a master at creating “dangerous” babies, which prove to be more than a handful for his loval delivery stork Peck. Directed by Pixar story artist, animator and voice actor Peter Sohn.
• Adventure is Out There – This action-packed documentary tells the story of the filmmakers’ own trek to the tepuis mountains of South America to research the design and story of the film.

And, only on Blu-ray Hi-Def, hours of features, and behind-the scenes bonus features, including:
• Cine-Explore – A visual montage of concept art, clips and documentary coverage that illustrates the directors’ commentary.
• Geriatric Hero - A character study of Carl, from research to realization including art and design, rigging, animation and story. It focuses on the issues of aging, “simplexity”, shape-language and compelling character arcs.
• Canine Companions – For anyone who ever wondered where CG puppies come from, an introduction to the design, behavior and language of dogs.
• Russell: Wilderness Explorer – A character study of Russell from inspiration and design to finding the character arc and authentic voice for this wilderness ranger.
• Our Giant Flightless Friend, Kevin – Find out how avian research and development at Pixar helped bring a mythical, 13-foot tall iridescent bird to life.
• Homemakers of Pixar – Carl and Ellie’s house is an important “character” in the film. Fans follow the development of the house from story to art to its ultimate realization in the computer.
• Balloons and Flight – Carl’s house and Muntz's dirigible presented the filmmakers with two different problems—how could they make a physical impossibility possible? And, in the case of the dirigible, how would they unearth a fallen giant and let it soar?
• Composing for Characters – Composer Michael Giacchino returns to score his third Disney•Pixar feature film. See how the Up filmmakers collaborated with Giacchino to create the memorable score and compelling musical themes.
• Married Life – The original story concept that became the powerful “Married Life” scene, showing Carl and Ellie’s love story.
• Global Guardian Badge Game – Players try to locate countries, states and capitals around the globe in a multi-layered BD-Exclusive geography game enhanced by BD-Live.

Wow. That "$74 value!" flash sure is tacky.

$34.99 at the Disney Store. I'm hoping for sale prices to be in the $22.99 range on release day. Maybe a $10 off coupon if we're really lucky. Will definitely be picking this up.

Sweet. 4 discs seems overkill but ill take it. Hope MOnster's Inc also comes out around that same time. I'd rather much have that. Up was okay. Maybe Ill enjoy it more the second time i see it.

This is a must buy for me! However, I'm scared of the pricing of this release here in Canada.

Fantastic. Worth the price (not $74 but the low $20 something range I would gladly pay)

Would it have been a must purchase if it were only 3 discs?

Nope...not a fan of buying kid films. I enjoy watching them once, but only a few rare titles will get a purchase from me (Toy Story, Aladdin, Lion King, Mulan and Finding Nemo). I personally don't see much replay value in the other films and have no kids that want to re-watch them over and over and over again. Stuff like Monsters Inc probably looks great on Blu-ray - and I'll watch it - but it's not something I have to 'own'.

I do think its silly Disney has yet to adopt the DVD/DC on a single disc like Warner has.

Count me in! I hope to either have or be getting a BD player by Christmas time, so this will come in handy.

I can't wait for this one to come out. As a proud father of a 2 year old, I enjoy watching any Disney/Pixar movie with my son. I've purchased a dozen blu-rays just for him and we have a great time watching them over and over. I love the picture quality on these movies and I can't wait until Disney releases more of the classics!

Yeah, but then the set would only be 3 discs, which would make it much tougher to say "LOOK! 4 DISCXXORSZZ!!!1!!11! 74 VALYOOZ!!1"

Finally, those with income to spare might be interested in the Luxo Jr. Premium Pack ($199.99 SRP) which includes a collectible lamp modeled after Pixar's bouncy short star that is designed to hold a complete Pixar Blu-ray collection. Artwork for all four versions has been posted here.

Acording to UltimateDisney.com:
"Coinciding with that news, Disney has re-announced the Monsters, Inc. Blu-ray for release alongside Up on November 10th. Besides the two Blu-ray discs and digital copy DVD-ROM already expected, the set ($45.99 SRP) will add a DVD as well. New bonus features include a Filmmakers' Round Table, Roz's 100-Door Challenge game, and a feature on building Monstropolis for Tokyo Disney's "Ride and Go Seek."

Definitely getting this Day 1, but Disney needs to stop packaging DVD's with their Blu-Ray's. They did the same with Bolt I believe.

I disagree vehemently. I could do without the digital copy, however.

Once BD replaces ALL the DVD players, sure. But not now.

Blu-ray.com says "Monsters Inc" will arrive the same day.

And Monsters Inc is the same day. Monsters Vs Aliens, Tinkerbell 2, Snow White, Monsters Inc and Up. The kids are going to be happy this Christmas.
