Aside from the stuff clearly marked as NEW, are there any other goodies not on any current DVD or Blu?

I've still got my old DVD that's not looking too great on the 60" screen, so this is probably an easy buy either way.

Shampoo? Are you kidding me? I am 100% getting that.

I have Princess Bride on Blu and like Breakfast Club, don't really think we needed a Criterion version (though I look forward to seeing the Cover art at least).

Shampoo is one of my biggest Criterion wants. One of Ashby's best.

Wish Shampoo were a little more flush with extras, especially vintage stuff, but I'll happily take the from 4K transfer.

Have never been into Princess Bride, but I'll be picking that up too and reassessing it.

Already have Naked Prey from Eureka. Great movie.

Sisters is the only pre 1982 DePalma movie that left me nonplussed.

Excellent month...and not too hard on the wallet.

Anybody else read that last bit on the Princess Bride as it coming in a package that's like clothbound book? Could Criterion be getting into the custom packaging game?

Good eye. I bet the keepcase will be typical Criterion, but the booklet will be cloth covered.

That would seem tough to pull off. Maybe a digipak with a book alongside the blu-ray case. BUt my first though was actually a clothbound digibook for the whole package.

The packaging is an actual cloth bound book. There's a picture of it floating around online somewhere.

If there are any pink Floyd fans out there, it looks like it's similar to the 40th anniversary Piper At The Gates Of Dawn cd re-release.

If you believe Peter Biskind and what he wrote in Easy Rider's Raging Bulls, Shampoo was basically directed by Beatty.

I remember a Lawrence of Arabia DVD packaging that was similar in design.

I have that set and it's exactly what I pictured when I read that. Difference being there will be actual book pages instead of just the plastic trays to hold the discs.

Normally I would be super excited about TPB, but with a pretty good edition already out there, I’m not just not that eager for some reason. I love the movie. Seen in its entirety 2-3 times, not in a long time, but I’m really not sure, for some reason on this one...

edit...who am I kidding I’ll preorder at amazon as soon as it goes up. I’m so weak.

Yeah, I got it today at B&N. Pretty disappointed that it’s a digipack. Seems like kinda flimsy packaging for a Criterion, though the outer clear slipcover seems pretty sturdy. Overall I don’t like it and just wish it was packaged like the others.

Besides the new stuff, it looks like they're bringing over all the old Criterion stuff from the laserdisc.

But, there also appears to be a lot of stuff missing. It looks like the Criterion will not have this stuff which is available on the 25th Anniv. Blu-ray:

2 solo audio commentaries by Rob Reiner and William Goldman
True Love: The Princess Bride Phenomenon - 30 min., 2012 HD retrospecitve featurette
As You Wish: The Story of The Princess Bride - 27 min. making-of featurette

and possibly 3 or 4 other 10-minute featurettes

Probably those were created exclusively for the MGM release

Not sure how to paste images on here, but the cartoon in the latest CC letter must be hinting at "On the Beach at Night Alone" by Hong Sang-soo!

Dammit. He does look hot, with his gesture. I thought the book made him alone on the beach. Plus, Hong is so overdue at CC!

That didn't stop a lot of the MGM material from making its way onto the Criterion BD of Silence of the Lambs. It must be something else. Space issues, maybe?
