There aren't any, for once. It's refreshing to see an all-new month. Would this be the first month without any upgrades?

I don't mean to go off topic, but is the UK BD of The Innocents good PQ wise? I was looking at some reviews of on amazon uk and noticed a couple people pointed out some issues with the picture (freezing, pixelizing). Just wanted to know if there was any truth to this?

Officially announced. I'm pretty stunned there aren't any re-releases.

This may be Criterion's coolest cover:

That would be a great cover if it weren't for the red bar with yellow text at the bottom. What the hell?

I wish that the edges of the Kiss Me Deadly cover were beaten up, like a cheap dime-store paperback would be:

The People on Sunday cover (clever placement for the 'On'!) is just beautiful.

I like it, all those elements help make it look like a 50's magazine cover. Or at least what I have seen from Life and American Cinematographer.

good month, few titles I havent heard of but they look interesting. Black Moon looks the least interesting, anyone seen it?

big_e, the freezing/pixellisation issue is player specific and is relevant to a few BFI releases. What brand is your player?

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

Solid month with six new blu-rays. The only two for certain are the Malle titles, Black Moon and Zazie. Maybe's for People on Sunday and Kiss Me Deadly with a no go on Makioka Sisters and Insignificance. I limit myself to three a month but after a busy May I don't know.

The problem with me is that once I buy a title for a director, I feel compelled to buy all the others that come out regardless of how good or bad they are.

I'm in for Kiss Me Deadly, The Makioka Sisters (a bare-bones title with a lower price point, by the way) and possibly Zazou. I'll Netflix Insignificance and Black Moon (if Netflix carries them, that is), and I'm satisfied with my BFI disc of Sunday.

Did anyone else get emails from Amazon pushing blu-rays of The Mikado back to 4-5 and Topsy Turvy back to 4-12?

My player is a PS3, although if the disc is locked to region B, I'm out of luck. I thought I saw somewhere that it was region locked, which might be the reason I never bothered to look for reviews of it.

I got one for my Topsy-Turvy order.

I asked around on Facebook's Criterion page and the posters said it's probably a mistake on Amazon's part.

I'm pleased to see Criterion finally releasing a silent title on Blu-ray. Now, for their next hurdle, how about releasing an animated film?

Damn, I just spent twenty minutes copying and pasting all of the info and cover art for June's releases into a new post, only to close the window by accident. I'll leave it up to some other intrepid soul to do the job.

That's the most likely candidate!

You're out of luck. It is a combo release though, so you can at least watch the film and the extras.

When you first posted the titles I made the mistake of thinking "Insignificance" was D.W. Griffith's "Intolerance" so I was a little disappointed to say the least.

Yes, I wish Criterion was a little more Silent-centric.

looks like Todd Solondz's LIFE DURING WARTIME will be getting the criterion treatment:

Interesting that they would choose to release Life During Wartime and not Happiness. If I had to pick just one of his film, I'd love to get a Welcome to the Dollhouse Criterion.
