Well, list price is $130, so around $65 during BN sale.

Whoops, I was looking at the DVD price. Still a good bargain, considering all of the discs are stacked with extras, including commentaries on 5 of the 6 titles.

Holy, great month of Criterion releases, Batman!

What's even better is The Night of the Hunter and Modern Times comes out on my birthday!!!!

God I hope the B&N sale returns in November or I'm gonna be more than just broke.

Finally, the BBS set is announced. Been looking forward to this for well over a year. It looks absolutely brilliant. Please, B&N, make sure your next sale coincides with its release, okay? (If it doesn't, I'm buying it anyway...I'm not waiting until next summer for this one).

What a tremendous year for BD this is turning out to be. Apocalypse Now and this set are now my two most anticipated releases of the year. Thank you, Criterion, for making my wallet lighter yet again.

EDIT: Is the listing of six discs for the BD version on their site an error? If not, then I guess two films are sharing a disc. Seems odd.

Night of the Hunter is two BDs (like the pricier Seven Samurai BD release); this is the reason, I assume, for the higher price tag.

I'm in for Modern Times and Night of the Hunter. I'm still undecided about Antichrist.

Not an error... Criterion announced on their Facebook page that "Drive, He Said" and "A Safe Place" would be on one blu-ray disc.

Yes indeed. This set was once suggested to be coming from Sony alone. I really doubt Sony would have put all these films out on BD themselves; it probably would have been a DVD release with the "prestige" titles only on BD. (Easy Rider is, of course, already out).

Then word came Criterion was involved and now all these movies come our way on BD.

If I order cases for The Leopard and Che, will they send a slim 2-disc case or 2 single disc cases? If it's the latter, I won't bother for Che since that is how they come already. I'm just trying for a uniform look on my cases.

^ Yeah, those cases (as well as Brakhage, etc.) are intentionally and only in the larger cardboard cases.

Wait, so packaging takes precedence over the film itself?

I've been meaning forever to switch my cases,

who do I contact at criterion about getting new cases?

"Replacement Blu-ray Cases
Criterion now offers replacement plastic cases for their early Blu-ray titles that came in Digipaks. To order replacement cases you can send a PayPal payment to [email protected] with your address. According to Criterion the cases are $5 each (including shipping) for domestic orders (it's been reported that Criterion is no longer sending international.) If you order more than two cases in an order, each case after the initial two are $2.50 each (for three cases the cost would be $12.50 if ordered domestically.) For more information contact [email protected]."

I ordered a replacement case for Chungking Express and I received it in about a week.

I don't think they're making replacements for those, unless something has changed the list I saw just has these:

The Third Man
The Last Emperor
The Man Who Fell To Earth
Bottle Rocket
Chungking Express
The 400 Blows
The Last Metro
El Norte
Last Year At Marienbad

Edit: NM I missied NoirFan's & cgray's reply before

Agreed. I just watched it, and would strongly caution those considering a blind buy. Methinks there will be many "viewed once" copies available on half.com shortly following its release.
