And for me, Miller's Crossing is their best.

DOUBLE INDEMNITY could have benefited from a new commentary. Richard Schickel's track on this is better than many of his snoozy bores, but either of the participants in the new "conversation" – Eddie Muller or Imogen Sara Smith – could've knocked it out of the park and provided a nice alternative to the older track.

Apparently Miller's Crossing has been edited at the behest of the Coens--possibly as much as 2.5 minutes of footage was cut. Kind of lame.

that's fucked. i checked the collection set Bluray and it is 115m and Criterion is 113m. that blows. isn't Criterion a new transfer? i'd rather watch that, but not if butchered. do we know what was taken out?

Wow, what a downer from the Coens. More historical revisionism on the part of filmmakers. I guess I'll just keep my UK SteelBook.

The Coens did the same thing with Blood Simple, cutting a few minutes out of the movie for no particular reason. Neither movie ever had any flab on it that needed cutting.

Pink Flamingos

For those of us who grew up loving him, it’s gratifying to see Waters, in his filth-elder era, enjoy the same open-mindedness he’s promoted for decades. Call him an accepted radical, cherished by cinephiles and cultists as well as the little kids who flock to him at airports following his cameo in an Alvin and the Chipmunks movie. Waters had a recurring role in the recent final season of madcap millennial self-parody Search Party; one of its stars, John Early, told Seth Meyers that the director “created the entire sensibility that the show lives in.” Waters says he’s flattered by the comparison—and he gets it. “Millennium Maniacs would be a great title” for the show, he jokes, pointing out that his character, who sells babies to gay couples, parallels a story line in Flamingos. (Once banned in multiple countries, that movie entered the National Film Registry last year and will get a 50th-anniversary Criterion Collection reissue in June.)

Has anyone reported on what scenes were cut? 2 minutes plus seems like a lot....

First Wong Kar-Wai, now the Coens. One more and it’s officially a trend (or has it already happened on other Criterion releases?). I’ve seen far too many people rationalizing the WKW set for sure, so I suppose it’s inevitable with MILLER’S CROSSING as well.

This is all I can find about what was removed from the film:

^ That’s too bad. “Jesus, Tom” is a great line. Perfectly delivered.
