I figured it out but I shouldn't have to look around to know what you're talking about. CC and BD are fine, because they are commonly used and make sense. If you use something like LOTR everybody will know what you're talking about. But until now, nobody in the history of fine cinema has turned The Third Man into an acronym.

Off the top of my head....Foreign Correspondent, To be or not to be, Insomnia, Stagecoach, Quadrophenia, I married a witch. Also, the story says they have the rights to the first 8 Godzilla films. I believe that the upcoming Monte Hellman titles are also Westchester. I'm hoping we don't have a Ran situation where the title gets pulled before release. But again, there's no details about how this affects the Criterion releases.

I did a little more digging since it is a little confusing. It seems that Westchester has the tv rights. They are sub-licensing from Classic Media. They don't have the home video rights. I think we're a long ways off from Shout releasing Godzilla if at all.

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
According to what I've read, Shout acquired Westchester in an effort to support their expansion into streaming/television distribution. That may mean that the contracts Criterion (and others) have in place for physical media will not be affected by this deal. However, that's just speculation on my part. I really don't know either way. While it would be fun if Shout put out some of these titles on BD, it would be a shame if Criterion started losing the rights to some of these films.

Anyone see this on Criterion's Instagram?
For those who don't follow these things closely, Grand Illusion is one of the long out-of-print Studio Canal titles. This isn't the first hint in recent weeks that Criterion may have the rights to those titles again. Of course it comes about two weeks after I finally bit the bullet and picked up a used copy of The Third Man for ~$100. Still great news if it's true.

My understanding is that the Tati estate mandated that Criterion were the ones to release the new restorations. I think it was separate from any potential new deals Criterion may have with Studio Canal.

I wouldn't even rule out Shout working with Criterion like they did with Anchor Bay on the Halloween set, or releasing Shout Factory discs disguised as Criterions like Paramount did with Benjamin Button and Disney did back in the DVD days. I'm sure they know the consumer base enough to know that people don't like it when Criterion loses a title.

Friendly visit? Or is he working with them on something? Either way pretty cool.

Ha ha.
I'll take him over Bogdanovich anyday. For some reason I always got them confused for each other.

they both tend to display an ascot affectation- though with PB it's pretty much a constant thing.

So any confirmation about the Studio Canal stuff or hints about when it might happen? The prospect of having The Third Man back is very promising.... Would it mean there's a chance The Man Who Fell to Earth would return too?

That's why I'm wondering, I'd preorder in a heartbeat. I was recently looking at eBay, but the prices are, how do I put this delicately, psychotic. I'd like to know for certain before I dump the cash on eBay. And if any of you have seen that in 35mm, I envy you. Maybe there's magic left in the world after all.

Too lazy to dig up sources, but The Man Who... is all but confirmed, there's even a February 2015 release date floating around.
