Intellectually stimulating?

Would SHOAH's deepest admirers describe it as entertaining?

Ok, I'm done.

You see, folks, all it takes to placate me is a relevant Cronenberg quote!

Apologies for the digression. I'll allow this thread to go back to its purpose.

I'd take Eraserhead over The Brood any day. I love Eraserhead. The Brood, not so much.

Eraserhead is "thee" Midnight movie. Those who think it lacked replay value don't know the right time to watch it.

Middle ground? Everything in this world is either awesome or it sucks. There's nothing in between.

I've seen Eraserhead enough times that I can recite almost every line of dialogue (not that there are many lines of dialogue). Even so, my understanding of it grew exponentially deeper once I had kids.

That movie's practically a documentary about the first month of new parenthood.

Not having had kids, I always saw it as a cautionary tale, saying "don't fucking have kids!".

You know that scene in the movie where the baby has been screeching for hours upon hours until the father feels utterly defeated and has no idea what to do - at which point the baby stops, gives him a very deliberate hard stare, and lets out an evil little laugh?

I swear to god that happened to me exactly as it plays in the movie... except with two babies.

I always knew what the movie was about, but I never really felt what it was about in the pit of my soul until that moment.

I would sincerely hope real babies are cuter than the one in the movie, or I've been lied to over the years! If you want me to continue to propitiate the species, you aren't making it sound appealing .

Eraserhead is the better film, but I love them both.

Yes, they are much cuter, and things get much better once they finally learn how to sleep through the night, but those first couple of months could drive anyone to insanity.

I might get Eraserhead as I like David Lynch but it's not my favorite of his films. I'd rather they released Mulholland Drive though personally.

The film deals with an aspiring actress, an amnesiac woman, a film director, and a lesbian liaison and stars Naomi Watts, Laura Elena Harring, Robert Forster and Justin Theroux. This will be a nice companion piece to Criterion’s upcoming Eraserhead. Also due from the company is Terry Gilliam’s fantasy Time Bandits, available in a mega-deluxe edition. Just licensed for future release is Federico Fellini’s 1960 masterpiece La Dolce Vita with Marcello Mastroianni and Anita Ekberg. This will make a nice companion with The Great Beauty, the recent Oscar winner inspired by La Dolce Vita.

Though I assume those are still considered "rumor", that's great news on Mulholland Drive and La Dolce Vita. Love MD and have never gotten around to seeing La Dolce Vita, but will likely give it a shot once the Criterion disc materializes.
