Did I miss something? I didn't see where that was confirmed. I just saw people speculating about it here.

Picking up Shallow Grave for sure as I watched that a week ago and loved it. Probably pick up the 39 steps as well.

Damn, Gray's Anatomy has been speculated for what... a decade now? Excited to see it coming out.

Their first decent Chaplin cover! I'm in for Gold Rush and The 39 Steps. The others would be rentals, only Netflix likely won't carry them.

Nice month, I'm all over The 39 Steps and The Gold Rush, hope City Lights won't be too much longer.

Watching The Sorcerers for the first time last night, I was thinking what an interesting double-bill it would make with Being John Malkovich:

Not that I'm very familiar with those movies, but that cover art is awful.

I haven't been impressed by most of their recent cover art, but that's pretty fantastic.

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

The Gold Rush
• New high-definition digital restoration of the 1942 sound version, with uncompressed monaural soundtrack on the Blu-ray edition

• New 2K digital transfer of the reconstructed original 1925 silent film, restored in collaboration with the Cineteca di Bologna, with a newly recorded version of director Charlie Chaplin’s score, presented in 5.1 surround DTS-HD Master Audio on the Blu-ray edition

• New audio commentary for the 1925 version by Chaplin biographer and archivist Jeffrey Vance

• Three new programs: Presenting “The Gold Rush,” which traces the film’s history from original release to rerelease to 2003 reconstruction and features film historian Kevin Brownlow and Vance; Music by Charles Chaplin, featuring conductor and composer Timothy Brock; and Visual Effects in “The Gold Rush,” featuring effects specialist Craig Barron and Chaplin cinematographer Roland Totheroh

• Chaplin Today: “The Gold Rush” (2002), a short documentary featuring filmmaker Idrissa Ouedraogo

• Four theatrical trailers

• PLUS: A booklet featuring an essay by film critic Luc Sante and James Agee’s review of the 1942 version
I is happy!

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

this isn't Criterion per say but the National Geographic (Washington DC) has a Samurai themed exhibit and on the 31st of March are screening three films (in 35mm):

Samurai Rebellion
The Hidden Fortress
The Sword of Doom

Samurai: The Warrior Transformed

Not really - maybe a cartoonish exaggeration of them. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice rendering - but it's more appropriate for, say, a cover to a samurai video game. As GenPion says, it's just not a good fit for the trilogy.
