Waterworld - October 20
From HD ROOM:
Bluray will get a whole lot wetter on October 20 when the Kevin Costner's "Mad Max at Sea" adventure Waterworld completes its journey from defunct HD DVD to "Blu"-er waters.
Looking back at Waterworld on HD DVD reveals a bare bones release without a single supplement. Universal Studios Home Entertainment has taken a similar approach with Blu-ray but was kind enough to include the theatrical trailer.
Rather than serve up the nearly three-hour extended cut given Blu-ray's spacious disc capacity compared to HD DVD, Universal has chosen to stick with the 2:16 theatrical cut. That decision leaves a lot of extra space, a portion of which has been dedicated to a D-BOX Motion Control track accompanying a 1.85:1 1080p transfer and 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio.

That was pretty funny. This will be getting the BD25 treatment.

Already on that day: Two Guys and a Girl, Say Anything, North By Northwest, It's a Wonderful Life, Heat, Chasing Amy, and Forrest Gump.
Wow, never had a day like that and now another title.
Anyone want to buy a kidney?

Re: Blu-ray release announcements - Part IV
This may be the reason why there's no extended cut. From DVD Talk's review regarding the extended version on the dvd:
"The downside to a pleasingly fattened narrative? Universal didn't go out of their way to restore the movie for its DVD release, presenting the network television cut of the picture. Profanity has been dubbed over and a few special effect shots remain in their unfinished state, popping the bubble of fantasy to an unfortunate degree. It isn't a patch job like the famously reworked "Dune" extended cut, but it's far from ideal."
No features were on the 2-disc dvd. I don't blame them for creating anything new for this film.

^^^I would rather have the unedited Theatrical cut instead of the edited for tv Director's cut.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000) - October 13
Listed on universalstudios.com
2-disc set with the 2nd being a DVD. The list price shown is $19.98, but I'm wondering if that's an error.

DVD is not an error though the price may be. The DVD pairing thing will become a thing for Universal family films but didn't think they were going to do it for their catalog releases.

Awesome! Here's hoping the Clerks Blu-Ray has all the extras from the Clerks X set. If so, I'm definitely in.

I think most here know this already, but Chasing Amy was shot on 16mm. Of course it will benefit from HD, but don't expect a revelation if you were disappointed with the DVD.
Will JASBSB be the same disc as before?
