God, I hope no 2.0 tracks. At least with both of these titles, if you never imported them from Canada then it's already an upgrade since the DVDs were non-16x9.

The more catalog the better and signs of life from Touchstone catalog is a plus in my book. Disney treated most of Touchstone titles (and others) horribly on DVD with so many non-anamorphic transfers that some sub-$10 releases should carve out a nice little niche for fans of them.

The transfer of Stakeout that plays on one of the movie channels looked fairly good if my memory serves.

Hopefully studios will see some profit from titles like these as a benefit rather than not wanting to release things because they are thinking it doesn't meet a certain cost benefit threshold and decrease the prices they want to sell titles at. Fast nickels versus slow dimes.

Now bring on some things like..

25th Hour
Adventures in Babysitting
Can't Buy Me Love
Captain Ron
Color of Money, The
Cradle Will Rock
He Got Game
High Fidelity
Mumford
Noises Off!
Ref, The
Romy and Michele's High School Reunion
Spaced Invaders
Turner & Hooch
What About Bob?

In for Rio Lobo. Hopefully it won't be bare-bones.

I like most on your list. Didn't realize some were even Disney properties. But it's Echo Bridge...

Yes. Didn't mean to imply that all Disney releases were not anamorphic or that that list were titles that weren't anamorphic on DVD. Just a semi-random list of titles that might hold some interest for some people but might not be big enough sellers/profile that Disney might have kept for themselves (though a few of them certainly could fit that criteria).

I didn't list some of Touchstone' better films because I'm not sure what Echo Bridge has the rights to distribute (have to imagine Disney kept anything higher profile). Until your post, I didn't even know Disney licensed some Touchstone films to Echo Bridge.

Even though it is Echo Bridge, I'm still hopeful that the quality will be good. Disney certainly seems like it is the position to create quality masters for long term archival and other media uses, and they probably need to with a number of their films due to the often poor quality of their non-Disney and high profile titles on DVD, so that as long as no additional tinkering is done to them after that stage for the Echo Bridge Blu-ray release, that they have the potential to be of good quality. Until their first patch comes out and we know for sure, trying to be hopeful.

Anyone happen to know how many Touchstone films Echo Bridge has the rights to distribute now?

Re: Blu-ray release announcements - Part IV

^ Good catch. Those three fall under Hollywood Pictures, as some of the ones Gizmo listed, so Disney has licensed some titles from both Hollywood and Touchstone then. Even more potential for fans of some of those films.

Yep, not a lot of love given to a lot of those DVD titles. Had to go to Japan to get an anamorphic DVD of Grosse Pointe Blank so hopefully that shows up on BD soon.

Re: Blu-ray release announcements - Part IV

They left out the list price for the other titles. I'm guessing they'll be $19.99.
