Did Sony lose the rights to Monster?

Was going through TDB's cover art/release date gallery and saw this:

Maybe there was a five year agreement for Sony to distribute, and now that that's up, the producers had the rights to shop Monster elsewhere. The producers definitely weren't happy with what happened the last time around.

To clarify, Sony was not mentioned at all in that article. It sounds like the producers went to court after not getting what they wanted from First Look Studios Inc. (which had acquired DEJ, the ones that supposedly caused the problem). First Look is putting out the Blu-ray themselves.
