Re: Disney raises MSRP on Blu-ray Day and Dates - Thoughts/Discussion
well i was not talking about cupons, and would not count illegal cupon as a sale anyways. iam talking about in the circular instore sales.
ps iam not the one talking all gloom and doom. i picked up bolt on bluray when it was first released for 24.99 at Virgin Mega store. it was 25.99 at frys.

Drop the harbinger of doom talk. We are allowed to have discussion on things that *gasp* may be a negative towards Blu-ray. And don't worry - I will bump this thread for each of these films when their Best Buy/Target ads get released. We'll see how many are $24.99 or less. And we are talking SALE prices - not any silly coupons or rebates that many like to tout as 'sale' prices when not everyone even knows they exist or go through illegal methods to use (scanning a coupon from the DVD release and putting on the internet for others to download).
And just so you know: Bolt on Release week http://forum.dvdtalk.com/dvd-bargain...arch-28-a.html $26.99 at Target http://forum.dvdtalk.com/dvd-bargain...h-22-28-a.html $27.99 at Best Buy Bedtime Stories on Release week http://forum.dvdtalk.com/dvd-bargain...pril-11-a.html $26.99 at Target http://forum.dvdtalk.com/dvd-bargain...pril-11-a.html $26.99 at Best Buy High School Musical 3 on Release week http://forum.dvdtalk.com/dvd-bargain...y-15-21-a.html $27.99 at Best Buy http://forum.dvdtalk.com/dvd-bargain...2-21-09-a.html $26.99 at Target All 3 the BD+DVD+DC Editions at MSRP $39.99 Those prices were before the $5 Disney Premium that took affect in May. So, you still think Hannah Montana, Jonas Bros, Escape from Witch Island will be $24.99 or less on release week? Where are these $20 or less Disney Blu-ray release on release week? |

Of course, there will still be sales on these titles, but how do some of you folks not seem to get that:
higher list prices = higher retail prices = higher sale prices? It's still a price increase, however you look at it, even if you're waiting for a sale. MSRP increases are NOT the direction this format should be heading in. |

The problem is, some of us don't live close enough to a Toys R Us, or even a Target. MOST states don't even have a Fry's.
(I am so jealous of those lucky enough to have one of those stores nearby...I don't know how they always have such low sale prices....) |
Re: Disney raises MSRP on Blu-ray Day and Dates - Thoughts/Discussion
This sucks. That'll mean Adventureland will have a higher sale price, and I loved the movie too much to want to wait longer after its release to pick it up (seriously, so far, it's the best film I've seen this year)

My experience has been the exact opposite.
I only buy when I come across great deals, and Disney has had the best deals of any studio in my few months of buying Blu-rays. Nothing on this week's A Bug's Life unfortunately, but every previous Disney BD release has been found for $5-$15 fairly easily thru deals posted here. I think I own every Disney Blu-ray release thru last week. I have been picking my BR up at Blockbuster, they now have a sale going on 2 for $25 Previous Viewd BR. $12.50 each, not has good as your deals, but I can live with it. |

I signed up for those disney rewards and I frequently get the coupons sent to me. The price increase sucks, but I will probably still buy the must have animation from them which is only 3-4 titles a year. Everything else has to wait for a sale.

I've been a rewards member for about 5 years, and I've never (and mean absolutely never) gotten a discount coupon for a Disney DVD or BD. I register all my Disney DVDs and BD as soon as I get them. All I get are their typical email notices about new releases and stuff.
But pretty much every Disney release of the past year or two seems to have had a coupon, all found here on DVDtalk. |

Where exactly, here at DVDtalk? Are there particular forums or threads? Are those coupons images, PDFs or links to other sites?
Thanks. |

Almost always inside of a thread in the Bargain forum. But it is sort of random, it won't necessarily be a thread titled, "Coupon for Cinderella here!!!!", but might be in a general thread about a specific DVD, or inside of weekly retailer threads, or the weekly price comparison threads, or the freebies threads, etc etc etc.

Thing is those coupons are meant for one person...not to be shared with everyone on the internet. Some people have gone far enough to alter text to trick stores to accept them. When they e-mail you a coupon for $10 off Bolt its because you signed up for their newsletter (or whatever the case may be) and they really don't want it shared all over the internet. Same goes for including $10 off coupon for the BD purchase inside DVDs that get scanned and posted online. Not calling you out on it, just a general statement.

I think most of the coupons here on this forum are links to websites, most on Disney iirc, where you print them, they are not these individual coupons you mention.

The individual coupons have been posted before, but mods usually lock the thread.
Nice to see that A Bug's Life made it down to $19.99 at TRU, I think we'll see even cheaper soon. |
