"The Assassination of Jesse James ..." BD -- No Navigational Top Menu???

I just got a BD copy of this film yesterday. The film started immediately right after the copyright and studio logos clips -- no pause at a top navigational menu to select languages/subtitles/scenes whatsoever. While the film is playing I can switch the audio language and subtitle tracks using the BD player remote buttons; hitting the menu button only yields a sparse menu choice of "resume the film", going to the extra "documentary", or visit the on-line portal. I got this same behavior playing the disc on the PS3 and on the Pioneer BDP-51BD.

I'd like to find out if other folks' BD copy of this film behave the same way, or there is something wrong with my copy?

TIA.

Warner does not do normal "menus". When you put the disc in the film plays automatically (typically with the DD5.1 track selected as well, ugh). Have you hit Pop-up Menu button? not to familiar with Pioneers players - is it 1.0, 1.1, 2.0?

The pop-up menu button should give you the setup options. All Warner BDs are like that.

Got it. I kept trying to use the Top-Menu button to get this top-menu -- it's really dumb of me!!! :)

Yeah, it is. And like Gizmo said, it defaults on DD5.1, so you need to go in and select TrueHD.

I thought that this only has DD5.1.

It's possible. But generally speaking, Warner titles with TrueHD will default on DD5.1

Whenever I play this disc on the PS3 I would get a pop-up on my Sony XBR4 saying something like "... audio format not supported ...". FWIW the PS3 (running firmware v2.70) is connected to the XBR4 via HDMI and to the Denon AVR-3802 via optical cable. How should I set up the audio output configuration of the PS3?

I have to admit that I love Warner for doing this for their titles. It's simple, easy and waste no time.

Now if only they could change the default audio thing...

I don't, especially when I like to go and get something to drink while the disc loads. But the default audio is annoying.
