5 is the worst film in the series though. Well, other than 8 and possibly 7 (that ending!). I suppose "good" and "bad" and are relative terms when it comes to this franchise...

Glad to hear something is in the works.

As for the new doc, everyone including the guys who made HNWJ know that it sucks, so I'd really love to see something that comprehensive for this series. I know they're doing another one for a big horror title right now, but I'm not sure when it'll surface or where.

What series would that be?

I would indeed. I'll just say it's not a slasher film, but a very well-loved cult classic from the mid-'80s.

Something about that response is correct, but it's not the title.

Am I allowed to keep on guessing? My next stab is Lifeforce - another vampire film from the same year. Demons would be my third and final guess!

You wouldn't go with The Lost Boys?

It already has a stacked Blu-ray release, and 1987 is late-80's.

You're thing too small in terms of cult status.

That's all you're gettin' out of me!

While it sounds like I'm wrong about the movie anyway :), I'd argue that '87 could be correctly grouped under mid-'80s or late-'80s.

I know of a major doc in the works for an '80s horror franchise, but I don't know any reason why they'd be keeping it a secret since it has an official site and fb. I wonder if Adam can guess this one...

Not Fright Night? How about DAY of the Dead?

Night and Day. Mid 80's (1985 to be exact). That would be pretty awesome.

Lifeforce desperately needs a new edition. The DVD is a piece of shit; aside from being non-anamorphic, it has some of the worst compression artifacts I've ever seen.

The guess you made for the original post is the correct answer to my post.

I guess they did announce it finally. Last I was told about it, no one was supposed to know about it.

I would be happy at a Return retrospective so that's good news. Plus, of course, I will definitely pick up any new Friday retrospectives.

However, the lack of any new news on anything coming Fright Night makes me sad.

Agreed. I have all 3 docs. I like Halloween: 25 Years of Terror best, but I'm not a big Freddy fan so I'm biased in that regard. Although Never Sleep Again was a great doc giving almost too much to the fans. Can't ask for more than that.

His Name Was Jason on the other hand is almost painful to watch though. The bonus disc is actually better than the main feature.
