I just pre-ordered it off of the Fox Connect site. Sign up for their newsletter and then get a 10% off and free shipping coupon, brought my order down to $135 shipped.

Re: Alien Anthology - Oct. 26th

As much as I want the first two, and like the egg packaging, I can't see paying over $100 for something during the holiday season. Plus with a family of four and limited income it puts it out of reach. Oh well, I'll just wait till they are released seperatley.

It's so damn expensive, but it would go well with my Alien head from the DVD box set.

Looks nice. Did you get a chance to hold it? Wondering what's it made out of/how sturdy. Temptation, temptation.

And it would be nice to have these for Halloween this year. Otherwise I'm sure by Christmas I'll be able to get them for that price or less.
So then by the set for 97 dollars and sell off 3 and 4 for 15.00 or so each .

I kid you not...you'd be my favorite DVDtalk guy if you did. Then I could read about your mad rush out of ComicCon it'd be epic. And for sure there'd be a video or two of your escape.

$60 is my price point for this as well, I think... It will lower to that price soon enough anyway.

Yeah! Just before I dash out the door, I would triumphantly hold the egg in the air and yell "DVDTalk rules!"

Now that would be Youtube video worthy, but be careful, if people are knifing over seats, no telling what they would do for this. Ah the con, still remember growing up in San Diego and going to this when they actually sold comics.............

My check card was authorized in full when I placed my order this morning. So my bank balance was reduced by the order amount. Seems a tad ridiculous for something shipping in October...

Called Fox and they said it is a pre-auth that will roll off. They also said the order will NOT ship until all items are available to ship.

Here's a video aintitcool.com posted on how the egg works.

Agreed. If it was just the egg, it would be pretty awesome, but putting the alien on it ruins it for me, since the scaling is off. The alien should be much larger than the egg.

Same here. It looks like a tiny alien dry humping a huge egg. If it would have been a facehugger coming out of the egg it would be awesome and I'd probably have bought it.

I'll buy the regular set and stick it in the alien head.

Agreed, if it had a facehugger in it, it would be far more interesting.

I am going to hold off on this until I can see some screenshots. After the DNR nightmare of Predator, I'm extremely wary of this Alien set.

As has been discussed earlier in this thread, the producer of this set, Charles de Laurizika, knows how a film should look in HD, and Lowry Digital (the folks behind the Star Wars, Blade Runner and THX-1138 restorations) also participated in the process. That really is a no-worries guarantee.

I'm glad that the people involved have such a great track-record. I'm personally going to hold out 'till there is a pricedrop. The "restored" Alien 3 doc is really the only extra that I am clamoring for, but it is not enough to make me want to preorder at the price amazon wants.

Alright, then. It looks like a safe bet to get the set. The Blade Runner set was absolutely amazing. I can't wait to see what they do for Star Wars !

Re: Alien Anthology - Oct. 26th

Ok friends, please just help me out a little here. I'm not asking for a guarantee just an educated guess or prediction.

October is going to be a beast for me and, honestly, as of now I still have the set pre-ordered for a day 1 purchase, but here's where I'd like as many opinions as possible.

While I don't like the 3rd or 4th film, I do want the complete set. But because I only like half of the films, I'm open to not buying on day one.

But are they going to milk this set through the holidays because of it's late release or will we see it down near $60 for a day or two between black Friday and Christmas? And not just one lighting deal that I might miss or sells out before I even see the post?

Just give me some odds? Will they keep it close to its release day price for months or will they decide to sell the like hotcakes by slashing the price for a day?

If it sells for $95 on release day and really only fluctuates a few bucks by Christmas, I'll be pissed that I just didn't fork over the damned money on day one.

Last thing, if the only opportunity to get this at an amazing price is sleeping my local BB or Walmart, I'd rather spend the extra money. I'm talking Amazon or BB that might have tons of people but not Black Friday lines?

So, what do you all think? Will it probably be offered at a killer price on day or more this holiday season or will it not or be a BF in store kind if deal only?

Please give me some numbers? 60% chance?? Higher? Lower? Just tell me what you think?

Thanks everyone!

Re: Alien Anthology - Oct. 26th

I'm holding out for Black Friday with everything coming out in Oct. I like all four films so I'll be happy with a price around $80 or so. I think it's been pointed out that the previous Fox box sets started dropping in price 1st or 2nd qtr the following yr. For me December will be the perfect time to go thru the set as I usually take three wks off, so I'm not planning to wait that long.

100% guarantee that I think Alien 3 and 4 suck balls and I wouldn't pay 2 cents for them

2:1 odds that there's a separate release of Alien and Aliens within a year

3:1 odds they won't be Region A compatible
50% chance Favre won't be back this year
