I still have the original box set and never upgraded knowing HD was around the corner. I will, eventually, get this. But this is Fox. It will probably be bare bones and with a $139.99 MSRP.

re: Alien Anthology - Oct. 26th
I bought the Quadrilogy from Costco cheap and resold a year later for twice the price...Hoping ALL the films hit BD.

Edited first post...

re: Alien Anthology - Oct. 26th
Awesome news. hopefully they can a) keep the DNR knob off and b) give the first 2 films individual releases. I would never pay for parts 3 & 4.

re: Alien Anthology - Oct. 26th
Having seen three of the four of these in theaters, in both 70mm and 35mm (obviously only 35mm for Resurrection), these should all look and sound phenomenal on Blu-ray. The first two Alien films were huge influences on me when I was growing up. Needless to say, these films were one of the first titles I wanted when Blu-ray and HD DVD were announced.
And yes, I do hope we get the uncut Alien 3 documentary, but I'm not holding my breath. |

I doubt they'd bow three of the four films (even if only two of them are good:) )

re: Alien Anthology - Oct. 26th
Assuming it has ALL the extras from the Quad set, and some sweet packaging, I'll pick this set up. At the least I want/need the first two.

re: Alien Anthology - Oct. 26th
Apparently, an image of the (French) BD Quadrilogy set has surfaced, so it seems like it's definitely coming in Q4.
I'll definitely get this, but not at the $100 or so that I'm guessing this will retail for initially. Probably when it's in the $49.99 to $59.99 range. Dropping $90 on the DVD Quadrilogy when it was first released still hurts. |
re: Alien Anthology - Oct. 26th
Looking forward to this big time. I actually enjoyed all the films.

re: Alien Anthology - Oct. 26th
Are they going to make those of us who don't want them all wait for individual releases again?
|
re: Alien Anthology - Oct. 26th
My guess is that they'll go the X-Men trilogy route and have individual releases, but digital copies only in the box set. Which is fine by me, I'll grab the first 2 on release day and get the other 2 when I find them on sale.

Now where to pawn off my Quadrilogy...

re: Alien Anthology - Oct. 26th
That picture makes me believe that the Alien films will not have special features since it looks like the original box set not the quadrilogy box set.

While Fox used to be known as the studio with the stripped down BD releases, they have really stepped it up recently in carrying over the DVD supplements... Based on comments made by people in the know, I don't think you have to worry about this set not having special features on it....in fact, it has been suggested that we may even be getting MORE bonus features on this new set than before... |
re: Alien Anthology - Oct. 26th
I'm still worried about Aliens. It desperately needs a new master and it can't be done without Cameron's involvement. I hope we don't get stuck with the same one they've been using for the past decade or so.

Judging the contents by a picture of a box?? Sorry, but I don't see how you can believe anything based on that one small picture of the upcoming set....

re: Alien Anthology - Oct. 26th
I'd be more then happy with just ALIEN. ALIENS does need work. But, I don't think JC is going to participate in any way. He's seemed to have dropped out of any work on his old films.

re: Alien Anthology - Oct. 26th
He's been so wrapped up in Avatar that it's no surprise.
|
re: Alien Anthology - Oct. 26th
Well, Avatar is 20th Century Fox, so it's possible they're working with his schedule and trying to accommodate him. I mean, it doesn't seem like he'd have to devote much time to it.

Let's hope for the best. But to have these in high def video and audio:drool:

re: Alien Anthology - Oct. 26th
Quadrilogy on Blu =Release date Sale!!!

re: Alien Anthology - Oct. 26th
I'll be buying this no matter what (or possibly only the first three, individually, if that's an option).
Even if it ports over all of the Quadrilogy extras, I think I'll still keep my DVD set, for nostalgia, if nothing else. I only paid $25 for it and it's one of the best DVD sets ever, in my opinion. |
