Silly desert island hypothetical #4217

DATELINE: JAN. 13, 2009- The anti-HD forces have won! While we've managed to save every title that has already been released (and guaranteed you further access to them), as of tomorrow, ALL HD broadcasts will cease. ALL HD downloads will be yanked from servers. ALL announced but not-yet-released Blu-ray discs will be cancelled. The only survivors will be the HD media already in the marketplace.

UPDATE! Frantic at the mailbox, you examine the dark blue postcard carefully...

"Dear World's Best HD Fan,

As a special concession to your dedication and awesomeness throughout the years (and for your sterling and selfless service in the gruelling HD wars), we the undersigned are collaborating to make, for you, a special release. Before ending distribution of ALL HD movies, we will mail to you the three unreleased catalog titles of your choice in pristine new transfers. This is your LAST CHANCE to add to your collection ANY movie that is not already in release. Do not be greedy- three titles does not mean three franchises.

With love,

All the World's Movie Studios"

Name your three, soldier- the last three movies that will ever be released in HD!

If it has to be movies, and not TV shows I'd go with...

Rushmore
Harold and Maude
American Beauty (or South Park BLU for a comedy...)

Vertigo (happy to see others feel the same)
Dr. Strangelove

Not completely sure about a third. This one could change just depending on my mood or the day. For today, I think I'll go with:

Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia

That's easy. Lost: Season 1 & 2 (so far has always been mentioned in the same breath, not sure if it'll be one or two sets, so I'm going to assume 1.) Then for the other two, obviously Lost: Season 5 & 6.

Mine are rather different from those mentioned above:

Pride and Prejudice (1996)
Amélie
Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon

The first one isn't technically a movie, although it was filmed in widescreen. If that one is "disallowed", I'd go with Quigley Down Under.

Awfully hard to limit one's choices to three!

It would absolutely be a day 1 purchase for me, whatever the cost, especially since I have the non-anamorphic version. At one time, I used to watch it at least once a week. It's still one of the few movies, along with Strangelove, that I could recite whole scenes.

Yes, I am that obsessed with the show. It would be tragic not getting anything else though. I'm glad this is only a "hypothetical" thread... otherwise I fear I would go mad!

If I found myself stuck on a desert island with nothing but discs of Lost, I'd also request that whoever left me there gave me a gun with a single bullet.
