Best Price for Blu Ray player?

Longtime member needs help buying first Blu Ray player.

What is the best price for a Blu Ray player or PS3? Any advice on which to get?

Right now there aren't many deals to be found. I decided after CHristmas to upgrade my S300 to the S350 while the 300 was still bringing in decent money on eBay and I can't anything worth jumping for.

My Best Buy had an open box SONY BDP s300 (yes the 300) for only $250.

That thread says very little about the best prices for blu ray players.

IMHO, the best prices I have seen are at Costco and Target. Found a Sylvania at Costco for $149 and did see an Olevia for $149 at Target a couple weeks back.

If its not something you need right away, then I would wait in the next month to see them fall to $99.

It feels like we do this thread at least once a week.

The best price I ever recall, for a new machine, was $110 on Black Friday. Anything under $200 is a good price.

If you have a Costco near you they will have the Panasonic BD35K for $229 starting on 01-05-09. It's a very good player. You could also go to sonystyle.com and get their CC and you will get at least $100 off, maybe $150 depending what promotion they are running at the time their S350. So you might be able to get the S350 for $150.

Amazon.com usually has the lowest prices.

I just checked. Their credit card is offering $100 for $299 and up purchase and another $100 if you spend $1500 by March 31. Not bad, brings the net cost to $200. Right now they are showing out of stock on the 350 and the cc offer expired on Dec 31. I would guess they'll extend it.

The BD35 is a great machine if you have an HDMI receiver. There were some incredible deals on it before Xmas in the $150 - $200 range, but it seems to be OOS almost everywhere with any remaining units being marked waaaaay up. (I do not have a Costco nearby, so I cannot speak for them).

The BD35 is being discontinued from what i heard. Thus the low inventory.

wasn't this released in October? Why would they be discontinuing a 2 month old player that must be their best selling one right now?

I guess we'll find out in a few days if the BD35 is done or not. I'm sure Sony has something new in the works. Here is a picture of the stuff they are shipping to CES!

With CES this week, I would assume we'll see new Blu-ray players from Panasonic announced. Maybe a Blu-ray recorder?

Re: Best Price for Blu Ray player?

I got impatient and found an s350 on eBay. I sold my s300 the same day so the upgrade is going to cost about $75 - $80. It was money I had sitting in Paypal anyway so it didn't feel like money out of pocket. Now I just hope the seller is as quick to ship as I am so I'm not without a player for long.

I am aware of that. All the CE's will probably show off new models at CES though.

The Panasonic 50 was out for all of two weeks before it was discontinued.

I think it was actually discontinued before it was out.
