Re: First Blu-ray/HD-DVD title purchased?

When the PS3 dropped to $300 I bought one along with a copy of Metal Gear Solid 4, the 5-disc Blade Runner set and 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Wall-E and Terminator when Target was getting jacked with all those $5 off any Blu-ray coupons around Xmas of 2010.

First ordered was the Japanese Ghost in the Shell release which came with the original and the ridiculous "George Lucas" re-imagined version.

My wife does have an amazing sniffer, but as far as fear is concerned, I'm always a little scared around her, so that might be a good cover.

No new purchases yet, though I did rent Battle: Los Angeles last night. I said nothing about the PQ, nor did the wife, so maybe her eyes aren't as good as her nose!

At any rate, somehow everything about DVDs seems a bit second rate now ...

I had four movies that I didn't pay for first on BR. My first BR purchase was Toy Story 1 and 2.

What was your 1st Blu-ray?

mine was actually The Hurt Locker when I just wanted the SteelBook™ from Best Buy and it only came in Blu, but bought the DVD to replace it.

But, (500) when I actually got Blu-ray player and forgot I even had THL for awhile.

Re: What was your 1st Blu-ray?

Wallace and Gromit: A Matter of Loaf and Death (Region B), which I purchased as soon as I got my Oppo, so that when I went HDTV shopping, I could test the TV sets in the store to see if they could handle native 1080/50i content or not.

RESERVOIR DOGS - my dvd copy was non-anamorphic and it was among the first wave of titles to hit $9.99

I think it was the first Memento disc. To go along with my 1st player, the very flawed Samsung BD-P1000.

Re: What was your 1st Blu-ray?

Halloween and Evil Dead 2 a few years back before I had a player when they were $10 at Wal Mart. ED2 has since been replaced with the newer/better tranfer.

Wall-E, before I had a player. I also imported Cache a couple of weeks later. I gazed at both of them longingly for about a month until a player appeared at my price point.

Re: What was your 1st Blu-ray?

The Last Waltz (original Sony version with PCM instead of DTS-HD MA).

BTW, Warner had better release Blade Runner as a 4K disc launch title.
