Yeah... I said just a few hours ago I hadn't seen it, but I just watched it. It's an incredible movie. Thanks to your post alone I watched this much sooner than I may have otherwise so, yeah, thanks for helping me see such an incredible film. I really lucked out in getting this yesterday.

Sweet, you always have to take into account when a movie like that is made. The last half of that movie is as good as any suspense in the history of film IMO.

Yesterday I received my BD copy of CHRIS BOTTI LIVE with Orchestra & Special Guests from Amazon. The audio is fantastic. I can't recommend it enough.

I'm glad I loved it! I have already experienced several hit and miss reactions to some of these Criterion Blu-ray's so I wasn't sure I should pick it up even with it being a good deal. Then I decided I could always just sell it and turn a small profit if I didn't end up liking it enough to own. I enjoyed The Third Man but found it to be over-rated so for that reason alone I didn't want to have it in my collection, I loved Repulsion to an extent but I just couldn't see myself wanting to revisit it much (if at all) so I sold it, and was really disappointed by The Last Emperor - luckily a rental - though I'm sure I liked it less because of the obvious framing issues and poor Blu-ray transfer. The only one I hated was Last Year at Marienbad. I just didn't enjoy that one at all. As an aspiring director and film major I know I'm supposed to enjoy it but the complete lack of any clear narrative really frustrated the hell out of me. The movie just didn't appeal to me.

On the positive side I've recently fallen in love with the films of Godard and Truffaut, and I experienced my first Bergman with The Seventh Seal (which completely blew me away), loved The Wages of Fear, and have been able to add Chungking Express and Bottle Rocket to my Criterion Blu-ray collection (both have been favorites of mine for years).

Godard is my all-time favorite director so I'm really glad you've discovered him (his first Criterion-Blu comes out next week, & it's my all-time favorite film of his, make sure you get it). While he is my favorite ever, I never recommend his films to people, b/c I totally understand why most don't like him & find him pretentious. I agree so far the Criterion-Blus haven't been all that exciting. Chungking Express is fantastic, although In The Mood For Love is such a better film if you haven't seen it. One I dindn't see you mention is The Last Metro. I didn't care for it at all, not a bad movie, but I would never ever watch it again. Glad I only rented it.

Oh yeah, & to stay on topic I got Freddy VS Jason & American Werewolf in London today.

I actually loved The Last Metro, though I'm sure it's because of the strong theater backdrop and the acting was great. I can understand not everyone loving it the way I did though. Still, I would have figured you'd own the Blu-ray for the short film Truffaut and Godard did together.
