Universal BR and the "pause" button (PS3)
I paused 2 Universal titles ("The Strangers" and "The Incredible Hulk") for an extended period of time and when I went back to resume the movie, the screen was displaying a screen-saver with a Universal logo. Hitting "pause" did nothing, and hitting "play" displayed "this operation is not available now" (or something like that). I had to press "stop", then "play" which got me back to the menu, then had to figure out what chapter I wanted.
I have only seen this on Universal BR. It's annoying. |
Press "ENTER" or "OK". It typically gets it out of the Screensaver mode.

Thanks, I'll try that. But this screensaver thing is still a dumb idea. :)

just press the menu button, the button with the square on the ps3 remote.
not that big a deal. |

While we're on the subject, I'm not a fan of discs with fancy BD-J "pause" graphics that pop up and cover part of the image. I consider that a major step backwards from DVD. |
Agreed, just because you can doesn't mean you should. I DO like the discs that shrink the video to a small window when you access the pop-up menu rather than obscure the picture with hard-to-read overlays.
And the progress bar that some BDs use is a nice touch. The PS3 has its own progress bar so if the BD-J bar has more info, why not? |
