That's pretty steep. |
Suh-weet! Price is too high though.
Think I'll stick with my HD-DVDs. But that SRP is way too high.
Maybe i'll get them used sometime. My HD-DVD's are ptetty good. And I doubt Universal will do any kind of remastering, it's not like they need it. But it does have DTS-MA.
50 dollars seems to be about the right price for all three. Anything higher than that and plenty of HD-DVDs of this trilogy will stay in heavy rotation.
$120 MSRP...$90 in store? It does seem about $50 to high. They are pricing these as-if they are brand new Day and Dates ($39.99 MSRP) meaning these may not be as cheap as the previous HD DVD ports.
Overpriced.
The Gangster Giftset (Casino, Eastern Promises and American Gangster) lists for $89.98. So does the Ultimate Unrated Comedy collection, and it has one new release (Forgetting Sarah Marshall). |
Eek at the MSRP ... I just went from midnight to six :P
Somehow it is sad to see another "HD DVD exclusive" fall ... |
List price for The Godfather Collection is $125-130 and can be had for about $60 and was $50 at Fry's recently, so I would expect to see this trilogy priced about the same.
That list price has to be an error - The Mummy collection lists at $94.99 (amazon for $61), has three BD-50's and one of those movies is actually A NEW RELEASE... I'm sure that was just a fuck up - if not, WEAK.
Well I'll need Ultimatum since I sold my HD DVD, and I'm sure that price is an error since Universal has been reasonable with their catalog titles.

Pass.
I can (and now I will) get all three on HDdvd at Fry's for $15 total. |

"You can partially thank the incessant nagging for it on forums and such. I was as suprised as anyone when that popped up last night, because it'd been "We're in the process of doing them, but don't have a date" as recently as a few weeks ago. The same went for King Kong, but something has changed in Uni's strategy, going more aggressive. If what I'm hearing now is true, there should be some more happy announcements for the first quarter coming whose timetables have been pushed up. I don't want to list specific titles because things are still VERY fluid." |

If I can find this for <$60 I'm in. Otherwise I'm going to wait.
Is this set going to include Quantum of Solace??

Hey, Geonosis! Nice to see you come over to DVDTalk (if this is the same poster from HDD)
If the list price for this is true that is a really stupid move from the studio. I already own the first film on HD-DVD and debated about picking up the others on HD-DVD. Now there is absolutely no way I will purchase the Blu-ray editions. Which I guess might be a good thing as it will save me my money.
I have a feeling this will be 40% off at Amazon.
Either way, I look forward to ridding myself of another combo. Not too may left now in my collection. |

As it stands, we will be seeing tons of the more higher profile HD DVD ports in the first few quarters.
