Glad you enjoyed Black Narcissus, Sessa17. Here's hoping for more Powell-Pressburger in HD. Tales of Hoffman would be eye-popping. I just finished Soul Power - audio and video were both fantastic. I only wish the film were longer, though the disc has several deleted scenes and bonus musical performances.

re: Last BD (or, unrealistically, HD DVD) you watched?

Today has been awful in my physical state of being SICK. That has been no fun at all. However, if there is a bright side, it would be that I watched some excellent film's today that made my spirit soar while I felt miserable at the same time.

Assault on Precinct 13. Another classic from John Carpenter. I enjoyed this film immensely this afternoon - it was a genuine thrill ride as an action film with intriguing characters to boot. And, as always, the score that John Carpenter crafted to go along with his nail-biting direction just sealed the deal.

The Brother's Bloom. I seriously under-estimated this film. I'm definitely a fan of Rian Johnson's other feature, Brick - which oozed it's style in every crevice of every frame, but I wasn't as thrilled by the film as some others have apparently been. The Brother's Bloom, on the other hand, cemented this up and coming director as someone I need to keep following. The characters were great, the acting impressive, I loved the story (even in it's moments of simplicity), the music was excellent, the imagery fantastic, and the film was practically gushing with pride about the fact it's wearing it's heart on it's sleeve, thus it is demonstrating genuine sentimentality, with the same level of stylistic excellence as found on display in Brick. All of these reasons made The Brothers Bloom a fantastic experience worth recommending to anyone that likes films with a quirky and strong spirit.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine.Wow, I expected much more from this one. IMO, X-Men the last stand was MUCH better. I felt like I was watching a TV movie not a huge Hollywood blockbuster. Crappy CGI effects, weak story and very disappointing final battle. C-
Smallville Season Eight.Watching Episode 13. So far, very strong season. Much better then season 7. Erica Durance is growning on me. Oh god, she was in House of the Dead, lol.
Meet the Fockers. All time classic. I can watch this movie once a week and it never gets old. De Niro was funny in this one.

I just read that WRONG TURN 1 and 2 are pretty good. I have blus but never seen them. Will check them out after Smallville Season 8.

UP- fabulous movie AQ &PQ were off the charts 5 out of 5 on both fronts. I'm not aware of many DTS ES encoded BD discs that use all 7 of your speakers so I was extremely pleased to hear the rear surrounds engaged during this film.

Monsters, Inc.....just stunning especially the "Fur". Some more notable scenes....in the locker room at Monsters, Inc when they're trying to hide the kid. The overhead lighting casting direct light downward with shadows combined with excellent color makes it an excellent showoff scene for Blu-ray.

Red Cliff II - Mesmerizing. Not only the cinematography and battles, but I will miss seeing these characters on screen. Phenomenal cast. PQ can't really be any better. Sucks that there are people who only know these movies from the butchered version in theaters right now. But even that is better than the people who don't even know the movie exists and are excited about watching a movie like GI Joe.

But GI Joe is just so gosh darn good, Sessa! Isn't it?

I just finished watching Yes Man. I feel awfully sick still and found this a fun movie to watch for a second time.

Observe & Report w/ PIP commentary. Great track, although Anna Faris kinda gets lost in the comedy shuffle of Hill and Rogen. Not quite as informative as I was hoping for; it's more of a fun time track than anything.

If by "fun" you mean "as-painful-as-having-a-metal-rod-shoved-in-your-pee-hole", then yes I guess GI Joe was a ton of fun.

Reservoir Dogs, first time seeing it and I loved it. Now that I've seen all of Tarantino's films, it's safe to say he is one of the best directors out their.

Unleashed aka Danny the Dog HDDVD. Eh. Some good fight scenes, especially the one with the Man in White but overall pretty weak. I'm so tired of Morgan Freeman, playing Morgan Freeman. Has he ever played a villain? Good audio/video.

Rented and tried to watch Angels & Demons, got about half way through it and fell asleep. What I saw was photographed well and looked fantastic on blu-ray, but unfortunately, the movie itself was an utter bore - maybe it picks up and becomes interesting, but I doubt it since it's the characters that were the real bores.

That sounds scary, and scarily accurate for what I meant by "fun".

I last watched Wolverine and The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor for the first time and they both gave me that same kind of reaction. Ouch. I don't think it's necessary to really discuss them any more at the moment.

On the bright side I also watched Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas today. It's as much a classic as it has always been. I'm glad to have it on Blu-ray as I never did pick up the DVD release.

Red Cliff I & II are easily two of the greatest films I have seen to date!
