I wanted to like this more than I did. It was a good story but not an entertaining movie. She was suffering from PTSD and was not very likeable
Carried by the personalities and the chemistry of Lopez and Remini who a besties in real life.

I also watched it again recently, and for the most part I thought it held up quite well. There's an interesting featurette which follows Doug Limon throughout the filming. I found it surprising that he would admit they were so happy that Cruise was available that they started shooting without a finished script (there literally was no ending). In fact, all the actors were cast without a "character" for them to play, -even Cruise and Emily Blunt, They just cast actors they wanted or thought would fit and worked out the details later.

Supergirl (1984)
I remember gaining some appreciation of the film after watching the old Anchor Bay DVD that restored about 20 minutes or so that had been cut out of the theatrical release. Re-visiting it all the years later, the film retains some dopey charm but it's also a bit of a snore that even Helen Slater can't save. That being said, Warner Archives has provided a beautiful BD, with surprisingly sharp resolution for a film from the days when gauzy focus was in vogue.

Hellboy II: The Golden Army
I was a bit luke-warm on the film when I saw it in the theater, but I picked up the BD because it was jam-packed with features. Re-visiting the film, I'm still in the same place I was 10 year ago, -an incredible production, but "Hellboy" sort of gets lost in the whole thing, and the approach lacks some grit and dynamics. However, the 2.5 hour documentary is a terrific look behind the scenes (though, regrettably, it's in SD).

I love heist films but this one was a disappointment. It seemed as though there were so few likeable characters. Everyone was either an a**hole or stupid. Elizabeth Debicki from GotG 2 is quite striking and stands out, literally for how tall she is compared to her cohorts. Everyone had a brief moment of good but overall way too slow to develop. I liked the dog the best out of every character in the movie.

There was certainly some entertainment value there. It was just an unnecessary reboot of a property. Even the actors were wondering why it was being remade so soon. All the CGI turned it into a cartoon superhero movie.

Never saw the original. This was a fair revenge flick. James Woods was the really good villain.

Finally decided to watch Mortal Engines this evening, we were pleasantly surprised. While the concept was preposterous, we were both entertained by it...

Saw the remake a few weeks ago. Same story with the original being in the English countryside instead of the US of the remake. Susan George was pretty hot back in the day.

Not only am I not a big Julia Roberts fan. I wonder what the fuss is about. The acting chops are fine. The looks though are kind of weird and awkward looking. In spite of that, this is one of my favorite comedies, romantic or otherwise. TBBT made reference to this movie this week so it got me interested in giving it a spin.

The release that finally prompted me to go region free five years ago.
I'd since been under the impression that the Shout disc (which I also ended up owning) wasn't as bad as initial reviews led me to believe, and actually might be better for one of the cuts, while the other cut on the BFI was better.
I couldn't remember which was which so I took a few minutes to sample and directly compare both before sitting down to watch the German cut.
I couldn't have been more wrong. Both versions of the Shout disc were clearly inferior to either cut on the BFI.
Was also surprised to see that the entire film wasn't nearly as grainy and coarse as the opening few scenes. Some shots were fine grained and absolutely gorgeous.
