This is an OK popcorn flick. Looks good in disc. It's rated R. Why no skin from Olivia Munn dammit?

The Gorgon from

My recollection of it from the Sony DVD set was that I while I didn't hate it, there was something about it that I'd found lacking.

Watching it again, I was struck with how beautiful the film looks in terms of color and production, despite utilizing a very limited number of sets, but also realized just how muted all the conflicts are. The individual elements are all there, but nothing is presented with any particular inflection. A little too much British reserve slights what could have been one of Hammer's best, even with the lower budget taken into account.

This is the kind of "B" material that would be ripe for a judicious remake.

Not having seen this before, the only aspect of it I was really conscious of was the general premise (older woman hooking up with two younger guys) and that it was supposed to be racy.
It suddenly hit me about twenty minutes in that this was probably from Cuaron and that was what must have originally prompted the purchase several years back, more so than my interest in the story or themes particularly.
I was still knocked silly when I saw the credits at the end and only realized then I had been watching a young Cassian Andor.

While I wasn't especially enamored with the characters, milieu, situation or directorial conceits as it was unfolding, reflecting on it afterwards I began to appreciate it more. Especially what was subtle and subtextual.
I'll be very much looking forward to delving into the extra content on this at some point.

Re: Last BD (or, unrealistically, HD DVD) you watched?

After watching a DVD this evening, we watched an episode of The Flash (S3): Invasion!.

Unbeknownst to us, Invasion! was part 1 of a 2(?) part crossover episode which, if we wanted to see the rest of, would have to buy Arrow to see it, which we're not going to do. Goddamned dumb-asses.

So, next time we watch The Flash, I need to remember to skip this episode.

Damnit.

I hated this. Extremely long, boring, dull, and stupid.

I want 2 & 1/2 hours of my life back.

X2: X-Men United

The Bryan Singer X-Men movies are the best.

Great movie and Oscar Isaac and Ben Kingsley were great in it.

Nick Kroll a guy you associate mostly with comedy is doing more dramatic work lately

Re: Last BD (or, unrealistically, HD DVD) you watched?

Papillon (remake) OK movie but watching guys be brutalized for 2 hours is not very entertaining.

National Treasure - Not sure why but I was browsing titles and had the urge to see some Diana Kruger. Plus I have a sentimental attachment to any movie I took the kids to see.

National Treasure was cheesy but fun way back in 2004 when Nic Cage was respectable.
